A chartered bus carrying about 50 local administration officials and employees skidded and flipped over while it was on the way from Sakhon Nakhon to Nakhon Phanom before dawn Wednesday.

About 40 people were injured, five seriously, included the driver.

The accident was blamed on the driver who reported to be sleepy while was driving to Chonburi.

US Charge d’affaires summoned in protest of its top diplomat’s statement

UThai Thani to hold cultural festival

UTHAI THANI, 28 Jan 2015 (NNT) – Uthai Thani province has held a press conference to declare open its annual cultural festival, which will kick off tomorrow.


The festival, taking place in January each year, is aimed at highlighting the uniqueness of the 3,000 year-old history of Uthai Thani province. The event will feature a mass ordination as a tribute to His Majesty the King, the local rite as homage to the goddess of rice, a cultural parade and performances, sports and singing competitions and an exhibition showcasing the local history and culture.

Aside from the cultural festival, Uthai Thani Deputy Governor Wisit Kurattanavet, who presided over the press conference, has also invited visitors to explore other interesting aspects of the province such as local food, the casual lifestyle of villagers, ethnic and cultural diversity and world-renowned Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary .

The event is a cooperative efforts of the Uthai Thani local administrative organization, the provincial cultural council and the public sector. The 10-day festival will be held between January 31 and February 9.

Palestinian girl, 14, in Israel prison for throwing rocks

Thais divided whether impeachment would affect reconciliation: survey

BANGKOK: -- A latest survey by Bangkok University found that 46.5 per cent of respondents do not think the impeachment of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra would affect the reconciliation efforts while 45 per cent said it would and the remaining 8.5 per cent are not sure.


The survey was carried out among 959 people nationwide.

Govt tells agents to ID which immigrants not to deport

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration has ordered immigration agents to ask immigrants they encounter living in the country illegally whether they might qualify under President Barack Obama's plans to avoid deporting them, according to internal training materials obtained by The Associated Press.
