Savannakhet tips

Featured Replies

Dear TV members,

I will be in Savannakhet in a few days to process a visa. First time there. I will fly in and out, Would you have a good hotel to recommend for 2 nights. Need to be clean and comfortable and with things to do around if possible (ie not isolated). I dont mind if it is a bit far from the embassy, I will use local transportation.

Anyone knows if there is anything worth doing for the day ? Dinosaur museum ?

Also for information, Savan Vegas does not provide visa services anymore.

Thanks for any good tips regarding Savannakhet.

If I could do it over again I would have planned better and stayed in Mukdahan the night before. Savannakhet is very quiet. I stayed at Daosavanh in Savannakhet but got picked up by the Nok Air shuttle at Ploy Palace in Mukdahan, which looked nicer and cheaper.

You will have to fill out a Laos immigration form on arrival. Make sure you have two passport photos with you. Also, I was the last one through immigration on my trip and by the time I finished there were no taxis or tuk-tuks. Had to pay a guy from immigration 400 baht to take me to my hotel.

What visa are you applying for and you are flying to the which airport the Thai side or Laos?

I will apply for a non-O based on marriage, multiple entries and will fly to Savannakhet airport.
