Multiple entry (3) Tourist visa valid for six months used up in 30 days.

Any way around this???

Can I apply for re-entry permit on departure and not waste my fresh six month visa all in just 30 days??

This info I got from New Orleans Honorary Consul, as per my other thread...

If you get one entry you would have 90 days to make entry ,

if you get two or three entries you would have 180 days to make entry.

Each entry is good for 60 days. 40 usd fee per entry.

So then my understanding is..

A Single entry tourist visa is valid for 3 months from issue 60 days in country extendable if desired. (expires 3 months after issue)

A Multiple entry 3 MAX Tourist visa is valid for 6 months from issue 60 days in country extendable if desired. (expires 6 months after issue)

ok so...

I travel to Thailand 5 or six times a year 30/35 days each time

A Multiple entry Tourist visa valid six months good for me,

I guess? Not many visa optionas available to me since I am..

Not married, Over 50 but still working, have a child and my name on his birth certificiate but that does not mean anything in Thailand..shock1.gif .

Sooo Multiple tourist visa is best option for me at this time.

30 day stamp better but Can not have to many of those in passport any more,

I do not know why and neither does Thai immigration in New Orleans when I asked the question ?? TIT

anyways

My next trip to Thiland from USA will go something like this ...

I get the 3 entry multiple Tourist visa valid for 6 months. 60 days each vist. Try obey the rules.

Should be good for next six months I reckon.....

BUT

Then I find out my next break itinerary goes something like this....

My first entry to Thailand I will be there 5 days..................................................................... 1st multiple entry used.

Then fly to UK for 5 days...................................................................................................... In UK

Then return to Thailand for 7 days..........................................................................................2nd multiple entry used.

Then fly to Singapore with my darling for 4 days,................................................................... In Singapore

Then return to Thailand for the rest of my 30/35 day vacation from offshore.................3rd multiple entry used

Six Month Valid Multiple Entry Viisa all used up 30/35 days...........w00t.gif

Can I apply for re-entry permit on departure and not waste my fresh six month visa all in just 30 days??

You can get a re-entry permits for each 60 day entry and the 30 day extension of it. A single costs 1000 baht and a multiple 3800 baht, A re-entry permit will be valid up to the date the permit to stay you have when you apply for it.

You can get almost 9 months of total stay from a 3 entry visa by doing the 3rd entry just before the enter before date on the visa.

There is no limit on 30 day visa exempt entries other than you cannot do them back to back just to get a new 30 day entry after staying for the full 30 days.

"Over 50 but still working, have a child and my name on his birth certificate but that does not mean anything in Thailand.."

You are eligible to apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement. You can still work outside the country and get a multiple re-entry permit for your trips.. You could even use your income for working to prove the 65k baht income. You would just have to get a non-o visa to apply for it.

If you were to legitimize you your parenthood you could get visas and extension for being the parent of a Thai.

Also a buddy in this situation (short visits but had a TR) explicitly didnt use the TR.. Just came on a 30 day visa exempt entry.. Saving the TR for a longer visit a week or two later.. Some immigration agents may complain but he did fine with it..

Plus if theres any guff about too many visa exempt entries.. you have the TR as fall back..

Thanks for the replies as always Very informative..

I have never gotten a re-entry permit on departure before,

You do it where you pay the overstay fine at departure hall correct?

Can I do re-entry permit at Phuket town immigration before my departure day? Sounds like an expensive option but necessary.

I am in the process of legitimizing the birth of my child but it takes time.

Original Hospital / town hall registerd Birth cert is a legal document in most countries but not in Thailand ..just more TIT

The over 50 retirement option is a great Idea I will try this I think .

I make over 65K a month. Do I need the 800K or 65K in a Thai bank for this type of visa??

Can I apply for this extension of stay based upon retirement on just a tourist visa or do i need a Non O imm visa for this?

*There is no limit on 30 day visa exempt entries?? I beg to differ as at the end of last year at Phuket airport arrival I was delayed over an hour told I needed tourist visa on my next arrivial due to to many 30 day stamps in my book.

That being said I did enter at Bangkok 30 days later on 30 day stamp No Questions Asked.....go figure....

Thanks Joe for letting me pick your brain with all these immigration question.....cheers

To livinlos…..

Very good Idea, but I am sure the arrogant officers at airport immigration would see the visa in the passport first and use that…

I supose ya could politly ask please may I have a 30 day entry stamp, up to the immigration officer I guess?

but ya never know great Idea…will try and see what happens.

I am due to fly to Thailand on Feb 25th still not have visa yet, I only have one 30 day stamp in my passport so far this year

Not looking forward to messing with visa stuff so may just fly to Bkk and get 30 day stamp again with out any hassle..

cheers

You can get a re-entry permit at both airporst in BKK. Not sure about the Phuket airport.

For an extension of stay you need 800k baht in Thai bank for 60 days or proof of 65K baht income.

You prove the 65k baht income by getting an income letter from your embassy.

If you are from the states you do an income affidavit at the embassy or one of outreaches they have in Phuket. If you are in Phuket now you could do it at one tomorrow (next one is in April http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/consular_outreach.html)

Info on affidavit here; http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/service/notarial-services.html#income_affidavit

You will need a single entry non-o visa to apply. You might need to use a re-entry permit to keep the 90 day valid if you have to make a trip before you apply during the last 30 days of it. You could make a trip to Penang to get it. Just show your income affidavit and give them a copy.

Phuket immigration seems to have their own rules and are not following the guidelines put out by immigration headquarters.
