BANGKOK: -- The Star Online reported that Malaysia and Thailand have agreed and exchanged views on several issues of to strengthen military ties including intelligence sharing between the two countries to ensure regional peace and stability, citing Malaysian Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

The Malaysian defence minister, who had a meeting with Thailand’s Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha in Bangkok yesterday, said they also spoke about the threat posed by Islamic State (IS) in the region.

Hishammuddin and Gen Prayut discussed ways to work together to solve security-related problems, including terrorism, human-trafficking and tensions in southern Thailand.

“We share the common view that despite widespread opportunities for our region, numerous challenges also exist. We agreed to continually look forward, planning for future issues that would challenge and shape our region.

“We agreed that trust, communication and management of differences were a common responsibility,” the minister said in a statement yesterday.

The fruitful discussion also touched on topics such as defence cooperation, national disaster preparedness and management, as well as certain security risks.

Hishammuddin said both sides agreed that a strong, successful and united Asean was not only an economic necessity but also a strategic imperative.

Judging from the photograph, the General doesn't look like he has much confidence in his new best friend.

He's one of the Malaysian officials who botched the MH 370 issue including all those disastrous press conferences.

Mind you LoS didn't cover themselves with glory either.

LOS didn't have to, 370 was flying in Malaysian air space, what has it got to do with Thailand , they can fly all day in Malaysia .airspace, like blaming Thailand for something happening in Singapore.

It took Thailand 10 days after MH 370 went missing to say that an unidentified aircraft in the relevant area had been picked up on Thai radar but despite the situation being international news they didn't bother to tell anyone.

The excuse, ' nobody asked us " !

Great co-operation and a display of awareness and responsibility but it wasn't a Thai aircraft so you are right, what had it to do with Thailand ?
