When to apply for a new 12 month extension

I have a work permit and visa extension that ends on 31 march. I was told just before Christmas, when I went for the 90 reporting, when I go back on 21 March bring the new work permit etc and they will issue a new 12 month extension..... Seems easy

Query is this - my friend went last month to the same immigration office but there are new immigration officers appointed by apparently the army. My friend was told that he must apply for the further visa extension 30'days before or must get a new visa !!

We are both teachers at the same school, dates for visa extension and work permit are the same. However we won't get our new work permits until 1st or 2nd week in march

Any views on this ? I think what my friend was told is wrong, it's a further extension based on working, why can't it be done let's say 1 week before

Misunderstanding, or misinformation given deliberately. Extensions can be applied starting 30 days before expiration.

You can apply for the extension during the last 30 days of the one you have now. Perhaps confusion or a misunderstanding.

The 30 days is certainly not the minimum time reaming on the extension. You can do it on the last day even.
