extension on a non-o visa requirements

Featured Replies

This has probably been covered many times before, but being the worry-guts that i am, i want to get it right, i have a non-O visa from Thai Embassy in London that was issued on the 3rd Dec.and thinking of going to emigration in ChomThien (i live in Sattahip) on tues 10th Feb 2015 for my first extension, ( is this too early) i will be applying for an extension of 12 months based on marriage to a Thai

I have filled in TM.7 form stating my request for a 365 day extension is for retirement based on marriage to Thai national, would this be OK?

I have the necessary 400,000 bht in my Thai saving bank which was sent from London this was deposited 8/12/2014 so should cover the two months needed

so what else do i need,

Book banks updated

Letter from Bank

My passport with copies of main page, plus entry stamp with non-O visa

Copy of TM6 departure card with entry stamp

2 Passport photos

Wife's House papers, and I/D card

Marriage certificate in Thai. with copies

Hope i have covered everything, if i have'nt please let me know, any advise is appreciated

Regards Max

You need two completed TM7 forms with an attached photo. The reason for the extension is to live with your Thai wife. You should not put retirement in that space. Attached to the forms you will need copies of the documents you mentioned plus the following.

You will need a recent Kor Ror 2 marriage registry from an Amphoe. I assume you got married here or were you married outside the country? If outside the country your marriage must be registered here to get a Kor Ror 22..

Map to your house from the nearest main road or street.

Photos of you and your wife in and around the house. One photo must show you both with the house number.

Proof of residence if not living where your wife's hours book is for.

Your non-O visa is, I take it, a single-entry one?

I assume it is probably a single entry. It would not effect him getting an extension if it is a multiple entry.

Thanks everyone for replies to my questions, yes my non O is a single entry, as for photos of us around the house, i will arrange for someone to come and assist us in that regard, (i don't have a camera with a timer) if and when, i get a year extension i forgot to add in my opener, i am planning on visiting my daughter in Phoenix AZ. later in the year i take this would be allowable with the extension?

And I got married here in Thailand Sattahip, and have a Kor Ror 2 dated at the time of marriage 2nd June 2009 i presume this would be accepted by the officials, at emigration!

And Joe do i still need proof of residence along with all this other stuff?

Max.....

For exiting the country, obtain a Re-Entry Permit, it will keep your permission to stay valid, available in single, or multi entry.

And yes, I would take proof of residence.

"For exiting the country, obtain a Re-Entry Permit,"

You don't need it to exit the country. As the name implies, it allows you to re-enter the country while keeping the extension alive.

And the O/P should get the re-entry permit after getting the extension ... either at an immigrations office or at the airport. The expiration date on the re-entry permit will be the same as on the extension. And when returning to Thailand use the re-entry permit number on the arrival card, not the non-imm O visa number.

After you get your extension stamp after the 30 day under consideration period you can apply for a single re-entry permit (1000 baht) or a multiple (3800 baht).

Immigration may want an updated Kor Ror 2 to prove you are still married. Your wife can get it at any Amphoe by showing her ID card. They will print it out, stamp it and sign it for a fee of 20 baht.

Unless you are living where your wife's house book is for you will need proof of residence.

Quite right, don't need it to exit the country. But, when he exits the country, let's see how long his permission to stay lasts, or what kind of luck he has applying for the re-entry permit.

For an extension based on retirement, do I need 2 TM7 forms and 2 foto's or only 1 of each?

For an extension based on retirement, do I need 2 TM7 forms and 2 foto's or only 1 of each?

Only one TM7 form with a 4cm X 6cm photo attached to it.

From the OP:-

"...thinking of going to emigration in ChomThien (i live in Sattahip) on tues 10th Feb 2015 for my first extension, ( is this too early)..."

No, it won't be. You can normally apply for extensions of stay up to 30 days beforehand - and even up to 45 days beforehand in the case of some immigration offices. And sooner rather than later would definitely seem preferable for your first extension application at least.

OK ubonjoe so i need two filled in TM7's, with passport photo's for retirement extension based on marriage, but not mention retirement on TM7 form as reason for extension, have updated Kor2 in Sattahip today 10 bht, so now need the proof of residence plus all the other stuff, then can apply for extension, i take it if the thirty day approval process goes passed my non O expiry date, i am still covered visa wise, or is there something else i need to do?

You don't want to put retirement or they might want you to show 800k baht instead of 400k baht.

The under consideration stamp allows you stay in the country until your extension is approved and you get the one year stamp.

A rental agreement would be good for proof of residence.

OK Joe thanks a lot, i don't have a rental agreement so will have to get certificate of residence, as i live with my wife in a house (in her name) as a resident, i had not thought about the 800k bht angle

I take we have to go through this performance every year?

If you are living in the house your wife owns and she has a house book for it you do not need proof of residence that is your proof of residence..

It is the same every year but it gets easier after the first few of them.. I have done seven. You wife will be the most important part of the process when you apply for the extension. All I do is hand in the paperwork after that it is all up to her. They even called her name to give her the receipt for the fee for my most recent one.
