February 10, 201511 yr £5.14B for the next 3 seasons! That means United will offer 250M for Bale, Ross Barkley will be bought for around 80M and Wenger will pay 3 quid for some French lad no ones heard off!
February 10, 201511 yr Maybe with the continued avalanche of money making TVisa ads on every page they can put in a bid next time. More and more difficult to find the bloody posts for all the ads !

Wenger will wait until they're out of contract, sign them on a free and then they'll get injured while they're on holiday.

February 11, 201511 yr Presumably there is more to be added to the pot with the overseas rights still to be finalised. This was reported as £2.23b for the previous deal (2013-16), up from £1.4b for the earlier 3 year period. With the increased interest in EPL from the US and the continuing Asian demand (will CTH bid again?) a figure of well over £3b is likely. Hard to imagine what the level of transfer fees / player salaries will be after all that dosh is dished out. The agents must be placing orders for calculators with more digits as we speak.
February 11, 201511 yr Author i'm wondering if its a coincidence that the deal was announced after the stock market closed according to the bbc news sky shares dropped 5 % b4 lunch
February 12, 201511 yr I have no idea why everyone is bitching about this No one forced Sky or BT to bid in the same way no one forces people to subscribe to BT or Sky. If people think it's too much money then just cancel your sub with Sky or BT. If Sky lost the BPL I hate to think how big the drop would be in the subscription numbers BT obviously using free football to stop people leaving to go to Sky for TV, phone and ADSL

If Sky lost the BPL I hate to think how big the drop would be in the subscription numbers BT obviously using free football to stop people leaving to go to Sky for TV, phone and ADSL If you take Sky original content out of the question (and that isn't much), what they are trying to do is poach Sky customers. Remember they have all European competition from next year for three years, that's a big loss to Sky. That's why I suspect Sky went high, it would be catastrophic for them to lose the EPL.
February 12, 201511 yr They got the football to stop people moving to Sky for the TV, phone and ADSL Sky was growing so fast in the ADSL side of things they were going to over take BT So now they give away the channel for free. BT have the Champs League and Europa League as you say which they just paid under £1B for 1 Champs League game will still be shown on ITV I am not sure if BT or ITV pick first I am sure Sky did not want to loose the Champs League but they were only paying 1/3 of that for all the Champs League I am sure the rights will go up in price again at the next auction as the live football is critical to both companies With BT charing £15 a month for the champs league it will be interesting to see how many people sign up for that. They have said they will keep BPL football free for the moment
February 27, 201511 yr Presumably there is more to be added to the pot with the overseas rights still to be finalised. More to the point for those of us living in LOS is who will win the rights here. Not those bloody CTH clowns, I would hope!
