Featured Replies

Pattaya:–Police have arrested seven scam suspects, comprising six Nigerian men and one Ganaian, following the raid at an apartment building on SoiChalermprakiat 17, Pattaya Third Road, South Pattaya.

The seven suspects are facing the initial charge for illegal entry under the immigration law, pending the completion of the police report on alleged online romance scam.

The scam was detected by the Police Coordination Centre against Transnational Crimes, Chon Buri police commander Maj General NitipongNiamnoi said.

The police investigation found that the seven preyed on Thai womenwho seek love online.

The scammers would hunt through chat rooms, dating sites and social networking sites. They rely on psychological profiling and use any weakness to their advantage.

The victims are single or widower, aged 40 to 60. The scammers would approach victims through social network sites such as friend request in Facebook.

A typical scam would trick the victims with false information portraying the scammers as a rich retiree or high-paying professional and using photographs stolen from good-looking Caucasian males or models.

Before reaching for their wallet, the victims would be led into false believe about huge saving accountand the search for a “last soul mate” to settle down with ahead of retirement.

Nitipong reminded women not to fall prey to illusory love promised by the scammers who would then ask for money to pay for “expenses” deemed necessary in exchange for future gifts or valuables.

He said the suspects used proxy bank accounts to receive money sent by victims.

The six Nigerian men are William ChinwenduNna, 39, Kenneth Ovuegbe, 40, Emmanuel OnydikachiIronmanya, 32, UchechukwuNwaoku, 30, Mater Ukwudu, 26 and UdojiFedelisAnaekwe, 31.

The Ghana man is Kofi Mensah, 37.

This is not news.

It would be news if people were busted for this who are not from Nigeria.

I feel bad for good Nigerian people that so many from their country have earned a bad reputation for all of them.

Is there no way the good people can keep these sleaze ball in line

or at least locked up?

Just search the TV data base with the word "Nigeria"

You will not find a post not about crime.

Nigerians again ! No Surprise there. Wherever they go they are involved in Crime of some sort. They are now even unwanted guests in most of the Countries In Africa. !! They just bring trouble with them . They have been responsible for destroying hundreds of thousands of lives with their DRUG Cartels too. Save Thailand from these thugs ! Once they get a foothold, it is just tragedy that will follow. Most of these Criminals are DANGEROUS.!Ask the people of Africa, they will tell you all about these thugs.!

They played with peoples emotions and bank account Lock them up with a frustrated group of lady boys for 5 years

That should teach them And if you cannot find any lady boys for it then get a man named BUBBA to keep them occupied for a few years

i didnt think a thai woman would be so easilly scammed i thought thai woman were the experts. tables turned giggle.gif

It depends who is coaching them.

"good-looking Caucasian males or models"

Not Thai ? Seems the scammers know something about Thai culture.

They are into criminal activities mostly.

"rely on psychological profiling and use any weakness to their advantage." Heck, that's just what my now ex wife did.... maybe she gave them a few pointers?

Also Ghanianz. And the "women" always say they're from Ghana but they're "mixed." They're always beautiful half-Italian/French/whatever and half African, and always did their university in Switzerland but now they're back in Ghana. Gosh-o, I'll have to go to Ghana someday and get me one of those.

Ghanians, sorry (not Ghanianz). I can spell.

I haven't seen a Thai woman arrested and locked up for duping foreigners out of their life savings. Duped is Duped. I don't feel sorry for anyone who commits fraud and takes your money. But seems only foreigners are arrested for duping. Entertain me MR. PM and start arresting all the Thai Women duping foreigners and in some cases pushing them to suicide.

These online romance scams are common in most all countries...although it is surprising that Thai women would fall for the scam with men from Africa...being reminded of the cultural phenomenon of Thai women spending gobs of money trying to have lighter skin...

You couldn't make it up could you? Don't kid a kidder huh? Anything anytime out of Ghana or Nigeria is always a con. Fact. Now they're trying it on with the biggest fleecers in south east Asia. What goes around.....
