My usual visa run company says over land extensions are no longer available. Does anyone know if you can get an extension at the local Immigration office? I only need an extra week. Thanks for any info.

If you arrived this latest time here in Thailand at the airport from another country - you were given a Visa Exemption ... Exemption for not having a Visa with permission to stay for 30 days. Under current Thai immigration rules you are allowed to Extend for another 30 days - by applying and paying the fee at a local Thai Immigration office.

Within the first 30 days here in Thailand on an Exemption - go to a Thai Immigration office - apply on a form - pay the fee - I think 1900 Baht and you will get an EXTENSION of 30 days added to the end of your first 30 days. 30+30 = 60 days.

Don't wait until the last day ... no reason to wait and put yourself into a time crunch.

whistling.gif Did you actually get a Visa on Arrival or did you get a visa exempt entry for 30 days?

They are two different things.

But if you DID get a visa exempt entry and have a 30 day entry stamp you now (since August 2014) can get one extension of another 30 days for a fee of 1900 Baht at immiration.

It's a new law, only started last August.

A visa on arrival only allows a 15 day entry and cannot be extended.

You apparently got a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

Thank you responders for your quick answers. I stand corrected in that I received the 30 day exempt visa. I will process my extension early as advised.
