No where in Thailand is the climate for strawberries. Samong Thailand outside of Chiang Mai is Thailand's strawberry capital. Gorgeous but no taste.

GPS 18.8415322, 98.704075 They just had their annual strawberry festival. Now saying this there may be somebody that has a rai or two under berries but I'll take a pass.

We passed a huge farm near Koh Yai on sunday at Wang Nam Khiao near Korat. It is a ''pick your own fruit farm'' and it's in full swing at the moment. Lovely sweet fruit as well....

Jim Thomson farm is a good place to visit and you can buy the veges there also & very cheap.

Jim Thompson farm does not grow strawberries. We were just there in January when they are open to the public for 9 days. The farm is well worth a visit.

attachicon.gifimage.jpg strawberry farm,Play la pen 50km from Buri Ram

http://www.playlaploen.com/Index.php?lang=en

I am not sure that Play la Ploen sells strawberries (or any other produce for that matter) but it does grow a variety of things.

Just found the source of the photo. http://www.playlaploen.com/?page_id=4344

Looks like they are growing the berries in a green house then moving them to a small plot. I would not call it a strawberry farm but a strawberry patch yes. It is a tourist thing as a neighbor has just confirmed. If your in the area worth while to stop by but I would not bank on buying wholesale.

As you said previously, strawberries in Thailand are pretty tasteless.

Those grown at Play la Ploen are for 'show' - not general sale

Sorry been busy, the photo I put up is of a tourist plot but of to the right of shot there were a couple of large green houses with strawberry s growing. To the left of shot there was a stall set up giving tastings of strawberries and wine, there was also a trolley with several boxes of strawberries marked Play la pen.there is also a retail shop that sells boxes and punnets.I don't know if they commercially sell.

Are the strawberries that are used for tasting pre soaked in sugar water. This is the number 1 trick for selling strawberries.
