Lenovo Sets Its Eyes on Thailand’s PC Market

Lenovo is setting its eyes on Thailand’s PC market, hoping to be number one in the market this year. The company hopes to snag at least 20% of the market share and plans to increase its investment budget by 60%.

How will Lenovo take over the market? By increasing sales in emerging markets and protecting its current strong market segments. Jeerawut Wongpimonporn, the company’s general manager in Thailand, said their goal to become number one in Thailand’s PC market is a part of the company’s bigger plan to become number one in Asean. Thailand is just one of three countries Lenovo will be focusing on. The other two are Vietnam and Malaysia. Lenovo has already boosted its budget in these markets to increase sales.

Part of Lenovo’s strategy is to maintain its presence in small and medium-sized businesses. The company also hopes to expand its consumer and corporate reach, which currently account for 70% and 30% of the company’s revenue respectively.

Anything is better than Acer's crap

Are you sure?

I went into the Lenovo service center a week ago asking if they could order me a new battery for my thinkpad. They said it would take 3-4 weeks to get. I said okay and then a few minutes later they came back with the answer:

"Cannot order no stock"

I went in 2 days later to order a new power supply, they said it would take 3-4 weeks to order. This time they came back after five minutes and said:

"Minimum order 50 !"

I have used Lenovo for 15 years but will never buy one again. The after sales service in Asia is the worst.

Apple Mac Book Pro will be fine for me from now on.

You should have no trouble getting either of those from the battery guy at the back of the ground floor in Panthip if you go to Bangkok. Not sure of their provenance but my 1,500 baht replacement battery for my Lenovo X220 has worked fine for a year so far and would have cost well over 5,000 baht if bought at a Lenovo dealer in the UK.
