webfact
Man shot dead in front of former Pattaya Mayor’s Shop in North PattayaPATTAYA: -- In the early hours of Thursday, a 34 year old man was gunned-down in a drive-by shooting, outside of a Buddhist Amulet Shop in North Pattaya, owned by a former Mayor of Pattaya.Police and medics rushed to the scene on the Naklua Road. The victim of the shooting was named as Khun Wachara aged 34, also known as “Dee Yai Takiendier”. He had been shot a total of 10 times and later died in Hospital from his injuries.Police began a murder investigation and began by examining CCTV footage from the front of the shop, owned by former Mayor of Pattaya Khun Niran, who had just left a gathering of bike enthusiasts who were drinking together at the location.Minutes later a White Toyota Yaris drove past and a rear-seated passenger wearing a hooded jumper, shot at the victim, who was helping others to clear away tables and chairs and bottles of beer and whisky, when the shooting took place.A car matching the description of the one used in the shooting was found later on Thursday and checked for fingerprints. The car, registered under the name of a 17 year old female, is still under investigation and remains with Police for now.Full story: http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/172173/man-shot-dead-in-front-of-former-pattaya-mayors-shop-in-north-pattaya/-- Pattaya One 2015-02-20
siampolee
Shot ten times. Hard to consider the incident as your average ''accidental discharge'' mishap is it not? Considering the location along with group mentioned and the names mentioned one could perhaps be led to believe there was some sort of dispute concerning ''business activities'' of some description.
Popular Post Kerryd
"Police checks revealed he was wanted on two arrest warrants in connection with a murder from 2007 and an attempted murder from 2012." "the victim himself was armed with a 38 caliber pistol which suggested he felt unsafe" "Police expect the shooting to be a revenge attack for one of the two incidents he was wanted in connection with but remain open-minded for now as the murder investigation continues." So he had 2 arrest warrants pending, for murder and attempted murder, but apparently wasn't concerned about being seen (by the police) drinking in front of a shop owned by a former mayor. Sounds like he not only had friends in high places, but powerful enemies as well. Time will tell whether or not the shooter is ever caught (or is already across the border of a neighbouring country if he's smart). (Then again, if it turns out the owner of the car is the shooter's or driver's girlfriend, then not too smart at all.)
Popular Post jacko45k
Very dubious that an ex-mayor seems to socialise with armed people who have multiple warrants against them for murder.
Popular Post chaiyapoon
Hit 10 times and later died of his injuries.Maybe had a few minutes to think about the kind of life he was leading before passing??? Wonder how many other shootings he was involved in between 2007 and now.? Sounds like the worlds better off without him.

cup-O-coffee
Yet another story implying strong connections between the law, politics and the criminal element. And people think Ying Luk is guilty for wanting to flee from her accusers The blueprint seems to fit everywhere you look, in any direction. Even the headlines support this view... exponentially. It simply keeps getting better and better.
FireMedic
I doubt seriously he was shot 10 times. No Thai is that accurate shooting from a car. Mostly likely a shotgun with buckshot.
phanangpete
I think maybe. the police should check the relatives or friends of his previous victim , Pattaya is full of these killers , as is this country , you could be sitting having a whiskey with them not knowing . A bit scary eh ! Well its the only justice some family's have here, get it !
kinmaew
Perhaps if the BIB spent their time more efficiently rather than fining foreigners 5000 for throwing cig butts they would have more time to prevent this kind of stuff.

Pattaya is a mafia paradise, it's a very criminalized city. The tourists do not see what is going on under the hood. I am trying to avoid this place by all means.

Suradit69
Pattaya is a mafia paradise, it's a very criminalized city. The tourists do not see what is going on under the hood. I am trying to avoid this place by all means. Yes, only you can see what's really going on. Are you trying to avoid most cities in the west too? Even some farang cities have a lot of crime going on under the hood ... although may something prevents you from seeing it. Very dubious that an ex-mayor seems to socialise with armed people who have multiple warrants against them for murder. If only Thai politicos could emulate the high standards of western politicians and maintain their integrity on the same level ... The inquiry, which was set up in July, was prompted by allegations that figures in Westminster and Whitehall were implicated in covering up child sex abuse, and that police and other authorities did not properly investigate prominent offenders such as Jimmy Savile and Cyril Smit [Washington] D.C. Mayor Marion Barry was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine last night at the downtown Vista International Hotel after a fast-moving undercover investigation by the FBI and D.C. police that began several weeks ago, according to law enforcement officials and sources familiar with the arrest. Sources said that the mayor, who was arrested shortly after 8 p.m., smoked crack cocaine in the hotel room. "No Thai is that accurate shooting from a car ..." It would hardly be a skill to be proud of, but your dismissal of 66 million people, none of whom you assume could properly aim a gun, is a stupendous example of mind boggling racism. Not necessarily racism as few Thai gun owners have weapons that discharge repeatedly 10 times. You 'suraditly' forget that shotgun shells with buckshot have around 10 pellets. A little too touchy on the subject, stick to '69' ing. Do you think you know more than a firemedic, seriously?

guzzi850m2
In one newspaper they write that 9 9mm bullet shells were found. Perhaps some family member from his last murder victim did it? Revenge comes to mind. In the picture the car is not very far away from the victim so it should no be that hard to hit him repeatedly with a 9mm gun. Hiding in the open in Pattaya eh, the police must have know about this dude. When they want they find them quickly, the poor guys doing bad things here normally bugger off to their home village where the local police then arrest them. Boys, boys..... Pattaya is common spelling, but nothing wrong with Patthaya.... recall they use different script? I've seen my town spelled (or spelt, as Brits would) Chomthien, Jomtien, Jomthien, Chomtien... love those silent "h"'s. This is Thailand, not Tailand also fyi. And don't get me started on Brits mangling foreign names, such Kag a wa instead of Ka ga wa.... etc.

The weapon was most likely a Glock 19 with as the name suggests 19 rounds, which may mean the shooter missed almost 50% of the time but would still have hit his target with 10 shots. Looking at the pictures the victim was very close and at that range anyone with a bit of practice could easily have hit the target.
