For anyone who may be interested, and in order to contribute back to the community...

Last Thursday, 19/02/2015, I went to Chaeng Wattana in Bangkok to apply for the 1 year extension to my Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national.

I completed the TM7 application form available at http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/tm7.doc and printed it out twice duplex (print on both sides), and attached 4x6 cm photos to each copy which I signed. The Immigration Officer only required one of these forms.

I copied (twice) and certified with my signature/the wife’s signature the following documents to submit with my application. The Immigration Officer actually only required one copy of each of the documents so the other copies I have kept for my records:

  • Copy of my passport (front page, plus all pages with Thai visas/stamps).
  • Copy of wife’s Thai national ID card (front and back on same page).
  • Copy of all used pages of wife’s Tabian Baan (house registration).
  • Copy of Kor Ror 2 marriage registration (must be dated within 6 months) obtained recently from the Amphur district office (any amphur doesn’t have to be the one where you registered the marriage).
  • Copy of Kor Ror 3 marriage certificate.
  • Copy of “Affirmation of Freedom to Marry” as notarised by Embassy and its translation into Thai legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to registration of marriage.
  • Copy of wife’s certificate of change of title.
  • Copy of wife’s certificate of change of name (to married name).
  • Copy of child’s Thai birth certificate.
  • Copy of child’s foreign birth certificate.
  • Print out from Google maps of location of house (probably not required).
  • Hand-drawn map of location of house.

Of course I also took all the originals of these documents but I don’t think the Immigration Officer asked to see any of them, with the exception of the marriage certificate which the Immigration Officer’s supervisor asked to see along with my bank book when she double-checked the documents.

I went to the branch of my bank in the basement below Immigration and obtained:

  • Letter from my bank obtained same day affirming balance of 400,000 baht in my account plus 2 copies. I think the Immigration Officer retained the original and one copy.
  • 2 copies of relevant pages of bank book (updated same day) showing the account number and the 400,000 baht deposit with the date of deposit being more than 60 days previous. I think the Immigration Officer retained one copy.

Finally, I took 16 photos of myself, my wife and my son, glued them onto sheets of A4, 2 per sheet, of which the Immigration Officer picked 10. She commented that the selection of photos was good, for example, photo taken outside the residence showing the house number.

It took me about 2 days to prepare all the documents as this was my first marriage extension and I had to do the research. Thanks to all the Thaivisa members who have posted on this subject in the past.

I arrived at Immigration at about 9.30 am and was given queue number 42. We left Immigration at about 11.30 am. This time was mainly taken up with waiting (just over an hour) and then seeing the Immigration Officer and her supervisor (under an hour). I have to attend again in one month to hear the decision and (hopefully) have my passport stamped with my 1 year extension.

All in all I was very happy with the service at Chaeng Wattana and the Immigration Officer. Hope it continues to be easy next year!

i ve been to Cheang Wattana today (3 March 2015) at 8:40 am and got a queue number 37.

I ve got some problems with couple of documents :

  • Letter from my bank obtained same day affirming balance of 400,000 for more than 2 months (i had one made 10 days ago which was not accepted but you can do it at Level -1 in the immigration complex)
  • You need to update your passbook and copy it for the same day ( i did that 1 day before and it was not accepted).
  • You need a picture in the living room, in your bedroom, in front of your entry door, in front of your condo. ( i didn't have the condo one but i could print one from my cell phone at CW conplex, we ve done a selfie this morning just in case!).
  • Hand-drawn map of location of condo (Google map was not enough), wife did it when officer was dealing with our papers.

Also i had to give the house registration (Tabian Baan) from my owner + a copy of her ID Card + lease agreement as mentionned here :

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/804178-new-requirements-for-extension-of-stay-report/

They took all my papers and I was done with it at 11:30 am and i will have to come back in about 1 month.
