I have just changed my ISP from 3BB, to TRUE

Now my Network Attached Storage is not able to do any searches, and indeed dosnt seem to be logged on, however I can still access the files.

I think TRUE is a static line, so I am wondering what settings I need to change in the router.

I have changed the starting local address from 192.168.1.33 to 192.168.1.2 (which is what my NAS was set to) but still no joy.

Any help would be much appreciated

Yep can do that is ok.

Can access the files, but cannot do any searches via the Internet, get network error, whether I use LAN or wifi

Google is fine, and everything else, it's the NAS box accessing the Internet. The settings changed from Dynamic to Static, when I changed ISP. True provides a static connection, and 3BB is dynamic. Just too many settings on router and NAS box. Now trying EZ installer for the NAS synology box, still no joy. Starting to hurt now.

Might have to ring TRUE tomorrow, oh what fun that will be.

I little confusion here.

Whether or not your ISP gives you a FIXED IP or a DYNAMIC IP address shouldn't matter as that is handled on the WAN side of the ROUTER. Your NAS doesn't care.

More likely you received a NEW ROUTER with the TRUE Internet subscription and your NAS and the True ROUTER are not yet reconfigured properly.

I doubt TRUE will be able help you troubleshoot the issue. If your computer is working and connecting to the Internet, they believe their job is done. Anything else you want to connect will be over their heads (beyond the 'script' they covered in training).

What does your NAS require? Why is your NAS connecting to the Internet??

If it really needs to connect to the Internet, it need to be configured to work with the new True ROUTER.

NAS needs

a STATIC IP address, or a Dynamically issued IP Address based on MAC address (so it always has the same IP address on the LAN)

correct Subnet (usually 255.255.255.0)

Gateway (the "LAN" side IP address of the True Router -- the gateway device to the Internet)

DNS (can be that of the ISP, Google's Public DNS, or some 'Special DNS" used for special routing)

True ROUTER needs

Nothing is the NAS is just 'fetching' stuff from the Internet

IF you want to set it up using a Dynamically issued IP Address based on MAC address (so it always has the same IP address on the LAN) then you would set than here in the router (if available as a feature). Otherwise, set the NAS with a Unique Static IP address (within the LAN IP address range, normally 192.169.0.1 - .254 -OR- 192.168.1.1 - .254)

If you want to access the NAS remotely, or if it has some P2P feature, then you'll need to configure OPEN PORTS, directing the Open Port to the Fixed IP address of the NAS.

If the ROUTER isn't issued a FIXED IP WAN Address by the ISP, then you probably also want to set up DDNS so 'some device' on your network can constantly 'snitch' the currently issued WAN IP address to a DDNS service (routinely updated the current IP address) as associates that to a URL address (ie: beerstain.noip.org).

What service does your NAS use that it needs direct Internet Access?

If it isn't working, can you provide us the Brand/Version so we can see what it may needs (specific to TRUE Internet Service)?

Need access for torrents, and to download packages and updates

Router has address 192.168.1.1

DHCP starts at 192.168.1.33, can change this

DDNS is 171.98.247.60

I've downloaded the EZ Internet software, and tried auto configuration, still no good.

I was mainly using my NAS, for downloads via torrents which worked great as the power to run the NAS is minimal.

Torrent (P2P app) usually needs to have open ports on the ROUTER. Some can be opened on the ROUTER as needed by the client device if UPnP is enabled in the ROUTER and client device, otherwise you'll need to set the ROUTER to allow open ports (port forwarding) [as per your device instructions] and point the open ports to your NAS IP address.

NAS needs

Static IP address (I would usually give it 192.168.1.2 while testing)

Subnet 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (unless you use a special dns service, then use the dns they provide)

Do you still have the 3BB modem/router? Was it also using 192.168.1.1 and were any special open port forwards set on it? (This is the info needed)
