6 month tourist visa, 2 month renewal- where do I go? (Phuket)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 6month tourist visa in my Canadian passport, and have to do another visa run to get a 2month renewal.

I have been in Thailand for 4months so far. I first got a one month extension in patong, then did a visa run to KL by plane. Now I am short on cash and can't fly to do the visa run so I must take a visa bus- from Phuket, do I have to go to Penang or can I just do the day trip to Ranong?

Thank you so much!!

Sorry not sure how to edit, I meant to say I have been in Thailand for 5 months, not 4

There is no such thing as a "six month" tourist visa .

Maybe if you looked in your passport and told people exactly what you have you would receive some good advice.

You could look here" http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/799760-visa-run-from-phuket-alternative-to-penang/?p=9066706&hl=%2Bvisa+%2Brun+%2Bphuket

Hopefully the "use by" date on your visa has time left. The six months runs from the date the visa is issued, not when your first entered the country.

Is your visa a double entry or triple entry? By six months, presumably you mean the life of the visa, not the length of your permission to stay.

I assume you have a 3 entry tourist visa

You could get a 30 day extension for your current entry.

You can do a border run to Ranong to use the 3 entry of your visa as long as you do it before the enter before date on your visa.

I was not at home when I wrote this, so wasn't able to look at my passport. nzexpat I can see you like to create shit with people. I dont know why you feel the need to do that on a thai visa forum over such a trivial matter... but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Anywho, I dont know much about visas but yes, it is a triple entry now that I look at it. The life of the visa is 6 months.

It expires March 16th and I will be leaving to do the 3rd entry before march 8th.

When I did my second entry I was given 60days, would this not apply for my 3rd entry as well? Or should I only expect 30 days?

Also, I was thinking about doing this on March 4th but I am assuming this would be a problem since it is a Thai holiday. Would this still be an issue if I were to fly to KL and back same day? May be a dumb question but I'm just not sure if the holiday would affect the airport as well.

Thanks for your help suradit69 and ubonjoe!

You will get a 60 day entry as long as you do the entry before the enter before date on your visa.

I don't think calling someone out who is correct is helpful to your cause.

You get 60 days (not two months) on entry with a tourist visa, extendable by 30 days. There is no such thing as a 6-month visa.

just back from Ranong; easy drive up 4 hours

or u could do all local bus's

boat across is 400 baht

Burma stamp is $10

You'll get 60 days

if u want stay try the Tinidee in 670 Baht and there even cheaper places

Borders do not close for holidays :-)

I am puzzled as to why the OP would want to continue his extended holidays after becoming short of cash.

I wasn't calling him out for not being correct, I was calling him out for being rude unnecessarily.

Thanks phuketrichard, I've got everything sorted now smile.png

Hey mate. Did you have to show proof of funds? I have to drive up there tomorrow. Is there easy parking at the port in Ranong?
