BANGKOK: -- The Central Administrative Court on Thursday ordered the Ministry of Interior to return Thai citizenships to 9 displaced Thais within 60 days.

The 9 displaced Thais are among a group of 73 from Mae Ramat district of Tak who filed a lawsuit with the Administrative Court in 2007 accusing the Interior Ministry then of being too slow in returning them Thai citizenships.

The court ruled that the Interior Ministry did not fail to do its job as charged but had been trying to examine the status of the group most of whom have already received their Thai citizenships except for the remaining nine.

The group said they were satisfied with the court’s ruling, adding that they had been fighting for t their citizenships for more than 20 years during which they had been deprived of the rights reserved for Thai nationas.

Seven years for just this one case. Disgusting way to treat your fellow citizens. This is why PM Prayut warned the Civil Service that they better shape up and start serving the public instead of themselves. The fact that paying a little extra moves one to the front of the line means that those who don't are shunted back is unacceptable. Civil Servants: you've been warned.
