From what I have seen, the serious violence which occurs during political protests is almost exclusively by red-shirts.

It's good that these violent thugs have been punished - but I am hoping that the terrorists who murdered protestors are caught next and strung up.

You people should realise that violent attacks do not compare in any way with peaceful protests. Citing the airport sit-in every time a thug gets jailed gets boring very quickly.

Oh please the PAD were armed and around 100 people were injured as a direct result of the yellow shirt actions in occupying the airport.

If you read it carefully the Red Shirts are NOT doing any jail time, because they can appeal. Several yellow shirts got a verdict already and appealed....

It is amazing someone would post such non-sense. it was not an occupation it was a force shutdown that wreaked havoc to the country and air travelers all over the world. Remember the body found at Don muang and the barricades? You make it sound as if they were there to make a peaceful statement and airport operations went on as usual.

I am glad to see the people locked up who tried to stop Abhist from leaving the summit. However so far this has been a completely one sided affair.

Problem is this is the only way to get the people aligned with the shins. The crimes are real.. the corruption is real but they only get prosecuted if the PTP is not in power.. When the PTP is in power they go after the opposition too and never their own. So in a way this is the only way to get justice and these rotations are needed to go after the protected criminals.

Two red-shirt leaders, Police Major Sa-ngiem and Surachai Danwatananusorn, did not appear at the court to hear the verdict today.

It's just not a normal red shirt trial unless a couple of them have already fled and are on the run.

Bonus points for one of those on the lam being a senior policeman.

To be honest.I hope the Thai people will stay quiet, grin and bare it.

If there is to be a fight, mostly old people and university students die. I don't want to see any more wasted lives over this.

I couldn`t agree more, however Prayuth (and the elite that pull his strings) seem hell bent on provoking the red side of things into violence. This is because they need an excuse to continue martial law and their increasingly authoritarian behaviour.

The red strategy seems very simple, sit it out and wait for the inevitable to happen and when it does the one thing that gives the junta/elite their credibility is gone. The junta know that yet again they are being out witted and are trying to cause a reaction.

I find Thaksin little better than Prayuth in terms of his equally autocratic behaviour in the past, but there is no denying he just out smarts his adverseraries over and over. They rely on brute force and fight everything like a brawl, he relies on intellect and fights everything like a game of chess.
