one year visa

Featured Replies

Since i'm living her i could renew my one year visa every year in June. For the next time they put the expiring date backwards to Mai 31, 2015. I don't see the reason loosing one month in time and money. Is there any body else with similar experience and knowing why this happened?

It would help if we knew where you are living and what type of "one year visa" you have

When does your passport expire?

i'm living in Pattaya on a retirement visa 'O'

my passport expires on June 30, 2015, but i renewed it last January 2015 already

The May 31 date seems odd but it may of been done to that date because your passport only had a little over year left when you applied for your extension.

thanks to all of u having replayed to my question. as the passport finished at the same time as the one year visas b4 it's not clear to me why they didn't let me renew it as it has to d done anyway... and then everything could restart with the new passport as usual.

Reading many other posts, sometimes Immigration office logic is beyond farang logic... maybe they just did not want to get you in a situation where your extension expires AND your passport expires... and you might be unable to leave the country with an expired passport... and not have a VISA anylonger... so they might actually have wanted to "protect" you... wink.png or just be able to "throw you out" with a valid passport in case they would not be able / willing to prolong your 1y extension... tongue.png

you will have to get everything transferred to new passport, on the grand scheme of things renewing in May instead of June........

Presumably you have an extension of stay based on retirement (not a not a retirement visa nor a non-Imm O visa ...if you are renewing your permission to stay each year at immigrations). The expiration date on the Non-Imm O that you (may have) used to enter is not the same as the expiration date on the extension of stay given you by immigrations.

Usually because the farang is confused about whether or not he has a visa or an extension of stay or is renewing the extension or doing a 90 day report or whatever and because he automatically assumes being a farang he must know more about immigrations procedures than any immigrations officer. They do make mistakes, but not nearly as often as confused Thai Visa posters would like to believe.

In my estimation the number of mistakes made by immigration officers is minuscule in comparison to the number of mistakes made by Thai Visa posters in referring to extensions of stay as "visas"!
