My son (5 years old) arrived here on a Swedish passport, which is now lost. He also has an Argentine passport which I would like to use instead. The Swedish embassy informed me that I would have to have the stamps transferred to the new passport.

The problem is that he and I have overstayed. I've read that it's best to pay the fine at the airport to avoid arrest. My question is, is it possible to get the stamps transferred from the lost Swedish passport to the Argentinian passport at the airport when I pay my fine? And how many hours before departure would be considered safe to show up?

Thanks.

I assume you have a police report for the lost passport.

Without an entry stamp in his passport he will not be allowed to leave the country. I am not even sure immigration at an office would do the stamps in a passport from a different country than the one he used for entry.

It might be best to get a emergency travel document from the Swedish embassy.

Children under the age of 15 do not pay overstay fines.

Your son who arrived on a Swedish passport will need to leave on a Swedish passport. Your solution would be to make a police report about the lost passport and obtain an Emergency travel document for him from the Swedish Embassy.Make sure you retain a copy of the police report.

I believe that your local immigration office will reinstate your sons entry stamp in the Emergency travel document.

So it would not be possible to do at the airport? They won't arrest me for overstaying if I go to the immigration office here in Bangkok?

why don't you do a visa run and sort out your overstay. then sort out the passport issue for your son, unless the ETD is some that can be sorted same day.

I think going to an immigration office would be a wasted trip. I am sure they will not reinstate the entry/permit to stay stamp in a passport from a different country than the one used for entry. It would be the same at the airport.

As I wrote before getting an emergency travel document is the best option. Even if it only allowed for travel to Sweden it would not be an issue because he would have his Argentine passport for traveling elsewhere. He just needs it to be stamped out of the country in it.

I do not believe you have any other option.

If you have a new passport or a travel document you can go to the airport and they will do the stamp reinstatement.

Just be sure you have a police report for the lost passport to show them.

Only your Swedish Embassy can issue a new (emergency) passport, Thai Immigration can not do that ever.

Edit: And as ubonjoe just pointed out, the Swedish Embassy will NOT do it without a (Thai) police report.

Yes. Will go to the Swedish embassy with a police report. Then when I get my passport I will take that to the airport and pay my fine for me, and have the stamps transferred for both me and my son.

Thanks guys for the help.
