Poll supports outsider as PM at time of political crisis

BANGKOK: -- Outsider remains a most favourite choice to be named prime minister, but only the country is in political crisis.

This was found out by the latest survey conducted by Bangkok Poll and released Saturday.

Bangkok Poll, the research arm of Bangkok University, conducted survey on 1,099 people from all regions to inquire the popularity of political parties after former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra faced indictment in the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders over the rice pledging scheme.

The poll revealed that the Democrat party still received majority support from the people although its popularity declined from 27.4% in December last year to 20.5%, down 6.9%.

However popularity of Pheu Thai party dropped higher from 26.9% in December to 18.5%, or down 8.4%.

Popularity of Chart Thai Pattana shrank to 1.7% from 2% and Rak Prathet Thai from 1.4% to 0.9%.

When asked people samples who chose Pheu Thai party if they would still vote Pheu Thai if its party leader is not from Shinawatra family, most or 84.1% said they would still vote for Pheu Thai, while 15.4% were uncertain.

For the question of appointing an outsider as the prime minister in time of political crisis, 59.4% agreed for the sake of peace, easing conflicts, but within appropriate time frame to stay in power.

But 30.0% disagreed reasoning the prime minister must come from leader of political party winning the election.

On the last question of whether they would accept or not if the entire 200 Senators must come from selection, 69.2% disagreed saying they must come from both selection and election at appropriate ratio.

But 18.3% agreed that all 200 Senators must come from selection, while 12.5,,% were uncertain.

The media tends to confuse itself with the term "non-elected".

What this Charter empowers is outsiders can be nominated for the post of PM, subjected to winning an election in Parliament.

Don't confuse yourselves between non-elected and non-MP.

A poll of 1099 people in a country of +60 million is totally irrelevant in any meaning at all. If they stand outside a shop frequented by a certain type of people they'll get a certain type of answer. But reaching a 1000 or soo people in a survey/poll/questionnaire seems the norm.

I don't believe any of those polls either, but that sample size is PLENTY provided the sample is representative. That's basic statistics, specifically the law of large numbers. But where there's been information, the polls have had ridiculously biased samples. I also suspect leading questions, or preambles to lead respondents. In addition, there's a climate of heavy censorship and many people may well fear give the "wrong" answer. For all these reasons, these polls are garbage and propaganda, if not outright fraudulent.

A recent poll of those taking polls revealed that 100% wanted to avoid "attitude adjustment sessions" and "meetings to understand the PM better".

Further, since the government demanded that no polls be anti-government, 100% of pollsters also agreed that Prayuth shits gold and pisses chilled chardonnay, as well as farting essences of roses and perspiring lotus water.

The poll was taken of 1000 pollster respondents only in Bangkok because the statisticians of other provinces are all at the Water Buffalo Lodge daily with Fred and Barney, and far too unsophisticated to ask the right questions.

Lastly, no one noticed that an appointed non-political PM would do away with the need for coups in the future -- the new leader would just appear, fresh as a daisy and robed in equanimity, regal in bearing and very connected financially, as well as appropriately military and altogether a sincere and appropriately near-sighted way of seeing the truth.thumbsup.gif

Under current martial law and suppression of human rights and liberties I don't see how anyone can conduct a meaningful poll on the popularity of political parties. Usually that comes from election results and of course, elections have been banned since May 2014 until further notice.

The next poll will shown that 90% of Thais support passage of a constitution WITHOUT a public referendum, that a majority of Thais felt they were adequately involved in the drafting process and a referendum would be irrelevant.

More fuel for the fire. Enough with this yellow and red BS come on Thailand all of you are Thai, unify and love each other, forget the past and lets truely have real reform. New political parties with new ideas with newly elected members of parliament elected by the people and chosen by the people. This yellow and red bickering must stop or we will all suffer.

Love each other you are having a laugh, they don't even trust each other, and the only ones who tend to love each other, are the monks, but in the wrong way

Thailand can shove their polls up where the s don't s.

There are three four kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics. And, the worst, "Thai polls" during Martial Law.

What Thailand is doing is taking the bull by the titts, what is required is an independent authority to handle a political crises and you cannot go past the Westminster model , I say this because Thailand has a Monarchy and because of this I use the Westminster system and if you know the Westminster system you would see the military isn't invited to the crises, so one can only deduct that the ruling elite and the military don't want a proper government, they want continuing confusion and power. coffee1.gif

Wow. Ain't it just amazing how far Pheu Thai has fallen behind the Democrats just because a military government has come to power. Impressive. Attitude adjustment working at the national level, I guess. Ahem... dry.png.pagespeed.ce.iCXmiFQmCf75Y8CMyFH

Those fake badges being peddled tells you PTP is out, and the military in.
