DITP signs MoU with HK to boost online trading

BANGKOK, 7 March 2015 (NNT) – The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Commerce Ministry, has signed MoU with Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for enhancing bilateral trade and investment, revealed DITP director-general Nuntawan Sakuntanaga.

The MoU was signed during her official visit to Hong Kong from 4-6 March. Apart from a basic goal to boost trade and investment between Thailand and Hong Kong, the MoU signed this time is aimed at sharing trade information online and promoting e-marketing as a new approach for Thai traders to access bigger markets through www.hktdc.com.

The online trade will help Thai SMEs registered on Thaitrade.com reduce costs of business and connect with the world’s leading business partners, possibly making a 2% increase in Thai export revenue to Hong Kong (equal to US$12,862m) in 2015.

Mrs. Nuntawan also visited Thai Pavilion in Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair 2015 in which 4,366 jewelry traders have participated, 366 of them are from Thailand.

She also used the chance to promote authentic Thai cuisine through the "Thai Select” logo.

There are 13,948 Thai food restaurants overseas; 1,516 of them have already been awarded with the ‘Thai Select’, 477 in Europe, 644 in America, 36 in Middle East and Africa, 78 in Oceania, 281 in Asia and 34 in ASEAN.
