Chanat Khamnet, 32, counts herself as a groom when asking for the hands of Naruemon Mungha-ngerm, 24, from the latter’s parents at her home in Chon Buri. The dowry includes Bt400,000 cash, 0.3 kilo of gold ornaments, a diamond ring, a pair of diamond earrings and a Toyota Fortuner vehicle. Chanat, a master-degree-holding lecturer at the Wandee Culinary Art Technological College, met Naruemon three years ago at her old workplace - a Chon Buri-based campus. The latter was back then a student. “When she smiles, my whole world brightens,” Chanat said about why she fell for Naruemon. She has also appreciated the fact that Naruemon is calm and optimistic. They had been dating for years. Thus after Naruemon graduated from her university and got a job, Chanat has decided it’s time to ask their families for permission to get married. “They agree with us. So, I have decided to arrange the wedding in line with traditions,” Chanat said. Her mother and a deputy dean of the college joined the dowry procession. Naruemon said she was happiest on her wedding day because she could feel Chanat’s true love. “The fact that we are both female is not important. She’s the one I know I can trust, the one who can take care of me throughout the rest of my life,” the bride said. If they are still madly in love with each other after my stepdaughter has finished university in 3 -4 years time, there will be a similar outcome, just the sin sot will be considerably smaller...
