PHUKET: -- Police today responded t o a call about a dead 'masseuse' discovered in an apartment room on Phoon Phon Soi 7, near Phuket Town's red light district.

When police arrived to the lobby of the four-storey apartment, they immediately noticed a foul smell and were then escorted by reception to the room of its source.

Inside they found the body of a deceased girl in blue pajamas whose hands were clinging onto a cloth around her neck attached to a light fixture.

The fan was on and it was speculated that the victim had been dead for days.

The victim was named as Ms Thawipat “Pu-pay” Bunthawee, 33, of Sakhon Nakhon, a “masseuse” employed at Angel Massage parlor in the nearby Poon Phon Night Plaza.

Police noted beer bottles and cigarette butts laying around the room and a short suicidal note written on the cosmetic mirror with lipstick, roughly translated as “enough of this life”.

Police also found a diary with an another suicidal entry in Thai, which read roughly,

“I don't dare meet anyone, even down stairs, I'm so shy, I don't dare ... I don't want to go like this, but I'm embarrassed for my friends and myself. In this life, I have so many problems. Let me end it here.”

Aside from this, there were also apologetic messages addressed to her mother, and a request for her peers to call and tell her mother.

Police collected the diary as evidence and continued their investigation.

The girl's colleagues said that she was very popular and liked among everyone at work, and had just returned from a month-long break back home to Sakhon Nakhon.

They told police that the last time they had heard from here was on Friday, March 13, after she had had a major confrontation with an ex boyfriend who was named as “Bung”.

Witnesses said that Bung had come to the victim's room, where the two had a violent fight.

The confrontation carried out into the open in the parking lot below, where witnesses saw the man beat and slap her visciously before taking all her money, cell phone, debit and credit cards and leaving the scene.

Her friends convinced her that night to file a police report and tried, to which she obliged.

They then tried to pursuade her to stay at a friend's house in another location, but the victim apparently insisted on going back to her room.

When she didn't show up for work the few days, her peers became suspiscious and said that they noticed a foul smell resembling salted fish near her room, and alerted reception to open the door.

That's when her body was discovered, police were told.

Nonetheless, police had the body transported to Vachira Hospital for an autopsy and are studying CCTV footage in hopes of tracking down the ex-boyfriend for further questioning.
