What is the fee to become a Registered Nurse in Thailand

Featured Replies

My stepdaughter finished her nursing degree in Ubon Ratchathani in 2014. Although it cost around $12K pa AUD for accommodation, meals and University fees, we still had to pay 30K THB to obtain the certificate. We have now been informed that she needs to be registered as a nurse (understandable) and it will cost 100K THB to do so. I live in Australia and the fee here to become a registered nurse is $150 AUD pa. (3750 THB)

Can anyone advise whether 100K THB is the correct fee and if it is, is this an annual fee?

I doubt very much if the 100k baht number is the official fee. Best to ask some of the registered nurses on the staff at your nearest hospital.

drop Sheryl a pm (mod in the health forum) she might know, to me THB 100k seems very high for registration

The link will take you to the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council website.

The councils contact information is at the bottom of the page.

It's been about 15 years since my Wife qualified as a Nurse but she says she paid nowhere near that amount. About 500 baht for the certificate and thinks nothing for the registration. 30k and 100k sounds very fishy to her and me unless things have changed drastically.

Thailand is short of about 50 000 nurses,

100 000 ฿ for registration? 30 000 for what? You payed 300 000฿ p.a. for educating a nurse? For that amount, I can make you 2 doctors + 1 pharmacist... You were taken for an epic ride... rethink your live.

Perhaps it costs more if you don't actually pass the tests...
