Pic of Police Senior Sergeant Major Suphan Chamnit, the officer involved in the shooting, from CSI LA.

On the 'Thailand Police Story' Facebook page, they posted another picture of Chamnit helping an old lady across a field, claiming he has another, kinder side to him.
They went on to report he's very sorry and stressed about the incident which led to him drinking and accidentally crashing into the back of another car on the 19th.

Pure scum. Only in Thailand are breathalysers broken for cops, but very functional for others.

  • A drunk police officer hitting another car and killing a member of the public by shooting him!! And his colleagues trying to cover his sorry backside!! Another proud day for the Thai "police" !!

  • And what becomes of the officers who tried to cover up the whole disgusting mess. Is this murderer out on bail. Of course there is no mention of that.

Thai Police..........Thai police......joke!!!!!! got to say Thailand is a beautiful country but the corruption is scary!!!

Bad policing is almost not newsworthy anymore......its tooooooo much....toooooo much....

"and discharged from the service"

isn't this the newsworthy part? Not moved to an inactive post ....

Well lets hope this scum policeman gets what he deserves, but somehow with no bullet found I think they are going to say someone else shot him, and the rest will be Thai history

Or is he taking her into the woods, handy someone was there to take the photo

It was also alleged yesterday that on Monday night, Suphan rammed a vehicle at an intersection in Bang Saen.
A woman who witnessed the incident claimed her friends were in the sedan when Suphan rammed it with his pickup. They smelled alcohol on his breath but Saen Suk police did not make him undergo a breath test, as required by the law, because their breathalysers were broken.

She said Suphan stayed in his vehicle until a case officer from Saen Suk police arrived and took him to the station.

It was claimed that all the breathalysers were under repair and Suphan did not undergo a breath test, she said.

I bet the police office who told the woman that all the breathalysers were under repair could not keep a straight face...

More importantly such claims can be easily investigated, I predict an awful lot of police officers being moved to inactive posts.

If you are trying to enforce the laws of a country then those enforcing the laws must be law abiding themselves.

yeah right, in Thailand that will never happen

The cop must have seen too many vids about police in USA where killing of citizens is pretty common.

Give it a month or two and he'll be released after the police investigation concludes that it was self defense.

however, justice will work underground..

Has any reason been identified as to why the deceased did not stop when ordered? Maybe not so in this case, but failing to stop might indicate the deceased was involved in some illegal activity, or was it just a 'no helmet/tea money situation. Whatever, the policeman's reaction was way OTT.

Well no, it is not whatever. The policeman ordered him to stop. He drove through the check point.

Truth be known shooting at someone moving on a motorbike in most cases would get a miss. It is possible the officer fired in the air above the rider but by the time the bullet was at the rider position, it had lowered down and hit his head. In fact, if the officer was aiming at the body, it would hit the lower back by the time it reached. If the officer aimed at the head, it would hit the lower neck or upper back. If he aimed above the rider , it would hit his head. Honestly, do you think a cop would have such good aim to pull his gun as a rider was barralling through, aim at the head of a moving bike ,that was probably not driving straight in order to avoid other coppers, and hit the target.

Haa haa haa and pigs will fly.

The guy went through and ran. The officer pulled hi gun and shot in the air. As is his job. Sadly the bullet hit.

The officer is not the wrong doer, even if he was drunk. Especially if he was drunk. Because that would be an impossible target if he was drunk. Showing it was an unfortunate accidental shooting.

I stand by the officer on this one.
