Explosives and ammunition found near the site of mobile cabinet meeting this week

HUA HIN: -- A cache of explosives and ammunition was found on Sunday at a roadside bush about two kilometres from an army’s resort in Hua Hin where the mobile cabinet was scheduled to take place on March 27-28.

Acting on a tipoff about the presence of seven suspicious sacks in the bush in Tambon Nong Kae, a team of police explosive ordnance demolition from Naresuan barrack was rushed to the scene for an investigation.

The EOD team carefully opened the seven green and white sacks bearing the words “first company of the first battalion”. Hidden inside the sacks were C4 and TNT explosives, fire bombs, tear gas, smoke bombs, detonators and ammunition for M16 and AK47 rifles.

Police said that the explosives and ammunition were in good conditions but it could not be determined whether the war weapons would be used to disrupt the mobile cabinet meeting or not.

It was however assumed that the owner might have dumped the weapons in the bush for fear that he might get caught and face with serious charges.

yes "fire bombs, tear gas, smoke bombs" are usually used to disrupt cabinet meetings from a distance of 2km.

or is it just a warning from the first company of the first battalion, that they are preparing a military coup against a present junta? In the hub of coups that's what soldiers are getting ready at all time, that's after shooting at civilians

Looks like brand new stuff coming straight from the store of the “first company of the first battalion”cheesy.gif Mebe should talk to the store clerk?

Did Sherlock take a vacation???? All munitions I would assume has serial numbers or such and are recorded in the storage facilities?

By the way, I was unaware that the Thai army used AK47?

"fire bombs, tear gas, smoke bombs" can be transported 2 km in need.

In any event explosives and ammunition should not be left abandoned.

Hey - here's a possibility : they might belong to red-shirts terrorists.

Just like every other time.

Every single time something like this happens, some fanatics start foaming at the mouth and blaming the military for planning to blow themselves up or something - and it has never yet been the case.

Unconcealed stray weapon components, but no guns. Packed in sacks obtained from Garbage and cartridges in 7.62 x 39 which was only ever used in tiny quantities by the Prahan Phran and which the Thai military does not use.

This shit has been dumped by a " Private Collector " and warrants no attention at all unless fingerprints and DNA can be obtained from it. The fact it is old and left by the roadside shows that it was not intended to be used. Maybe there is an old Thai Communist ex warrior out there who has simply discarded it. No excitement warranted at all

You see guys, why people are a bit skeptical at times by the timing of events and these ridiculous press releases.

Why on Earth would any thinking person "....assume(d) that the owner might have dumped the weapons in the bush for fear that he might get caught and face with serious charges."

Who would assume that?

That would be the LAST on my list of guesses.

If you are going to hatch a plot, could you please keep it fun by making it plausible? ... " ... dumped the weapons in the bush for fear ..." Oh PLEASE !

I think most armies keep ammunition for AK47 now. Since it is the most popular weapon in the world almost all insurrections and rebellions use them. I'm pretty sure the U.S. also furnishes them to the Afghan and Iraqi armies. Very handy when you want to mount a "false flag" operation and blame it on rebels. I agree they should be able to trace the legal owners of this stuff, but it's very likely they'll run into opposition from a *very* high ranking general who is the beloved and trusted classmate of another *very* high ranking general and so on.

On the other hand U.S. military and police lose a LOT of weapons and explosives every year.

When you consider all the bags of garbage and assorted crap that lays strewn along the roadsides in Thailand I find it strange that anybody would find any sacks suspicious and call the police. I also think it's doubtful the police would say "suspicious sacks you say? let's send a bomb disposal unit" What a crock of sh*te. Hey, would this make people believe that a continuation martial law is needed though.....

Army Chief: Found explosives in Prachuap Khiri Khan unrelated to politics

BANGKOK, 23 March 2015 (NNT) – Found explosives in Prachuap Khiri Khan are not related to the political situation, while the inspection process will be swift, says the Army Commander-in-Chief.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army Gen Udomdej Sitabutr has said regarding the discovery of explosives in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, that the explosives found are believed to be left by unlawful holders as the authorities have stepped up the suppression of unlawful weapon possessions.

Regarding the explosive's discovery, he believes that they are not related to the political situation. Some of the weapons found are no longer functional, while the military unit label will be verified, as military bags have been used in public relief operations during the flood disaster.

The Army Chief has pressed that a detailed investigation will take place and is expected to be completed quickly. He also warned that if this incident is related to government officials, the culprit will be punished with the highest penalty.

He has asked the public to remain calm while officials investigate on this issue.
