So if one gives Netanyahu the benefit of the doubt, and accept that he just got carried away with rhetoric re his racist anti Arab remarks and that he really does want a 2 state solution, what could these painful compromises be that he can offer that would be acceptable to the Palestinians?

They need not accept anything less than Olmerts or Ehud Baraks deal (but this time 100% not 97% of land swaps), a shared Jerusalem, and compensation for Palestinian refugees (the world community could pick up that chickenfeed tab of about $5bn I estimate).

You cant force them to accept less, because if they dont sign, other Arab countries wont sign either and you havent got a secure comprehensive peace. You are back to a managed conflict.

Anyone who thinks the Israel economy can be ruined by the USA is in fantasy land

The USA imports serious Intel from Israel as the USA doesn't effectively nurture field agents ans spies effective in Arab capital and streets

Also the Israel shin bet regularly trains us security firms and are mostly to blame for the airlines intrusion into peoples shoes and underwear

Israel has the most advanced laser weapons and also has the latest new guidance systems for missle technology which the us military sorely needs

Finally

The Israel commanders in the field have direct access to Saudi Jordanian and Egyptian commanders each having great respect for their counter parts and each harboring equal resentment for Obama administration tactics in their countries, and Obama is the one they no longer trust

As the war against Iran grows larger and the first of many Iranian naval vessels and warplanes shot down by Egypt and Saudi Arabian fighter aircraft grows and starts to get the attention of the usa media
