3.8-magnitude quake hits Phuket

PHUKET: -- A 3.8-magnitude earthquake happened in the sea about eight kilometers east of the Phuket island at 5:32 am Wednesday, the Seismology Center of the Meteorological Department announced.


The epicenter of the quake was about 13 kilometers away from the heart of Phuket. No tsunami warning was issued.

The 3.8 magnitude earthquake was felt at 5:32am.

PHUKET: -- A 3.8 magnitude earthquake hit the east coast of Phuket at 5:32 this morning (March 25). Residents in both Phuket and Phang Nga felt the quake but there has been no reports of any injuries or damage to properties.

The Meteorological Department in Phuketannounced that the epicentre was about 13 kilometres off the east coast of the island at latitude 7.87N and longitude 98.41E with a depth of 23 kilometres.

A well known and respected member who always seems to notice even the smallest earthquakes didn't chip in till now. Once asked him if he was by any chance living in the penthouse of a shoddily constructed high rise, but he didn't reply.

That's not even a massage...not worth reporting.

I have nether the credentials or experience and am glad I haven't been appointed to decide what is news or a message and what is not.

You are correct in that it is a small quake, but if you are

in the proximity of a 3.8 then you are also in the arena for

worse.
