The Meteorological Department today forecasted scattered rainstorms in the North and the Central regions, including Bangkok, as high pressure area from China is still covering the region.

It said the scattered rains were expected as the high pressure pressure area from China remains over the upper part of Thailand and the South China Sea, while a westerly trough from Myanmar moves across the North.

This will result in rainstorms, gusting winds and hails over the North and the Central regions today and tomorrow.

It warned people to keep off big trees, advertising signboards and insecure structures during a storm.

In Bangkok it forecasts scattered thundershowers with gusty winds over 40% of areas today.

Heavy rainstorms yesterday evening in Bangkok has disrupted several flights at both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports.

As Bangkok Post reported, The Aeronautical Radio of Thailand said the worst period of the storm was between 6.30 and 8.30 pm and affected both incoming and departing flights.

A total of 59 flights were delayed at Suvarnabhumi as they had to circle for an average time of 25 minutes while waiting for the storm to move on.

Four flights had to be diverted to other airports. Around 20 flights waiting for takeoff were late by an average of 10 minutes, it said.

At Don Mueang, five flights had to circle, for average delays of six minutes, and five flights sought permission to land at other airports, it said.

Especially those huge advertisings along the road are very dangerous. It only takes a little wind to get them flying around. I still wonder when they will ever have to pay the damage caused by that.

I don't believe the weather forecasters anymore. I now get my reports from the PM. he was the only one who knew about the storms the other day, and some two weeks before they hit.
