March 30, 201511 yr I notice there a no comments on all the latest news items in the Gazette web site, and clicking on "Add your comment" returns a blank page. Even the articles under the "Most Commented" tab have zero comments. Looks like I'll be venting my spleen here more often. Sorry.
March 31, 201511 yr The PG has gotten even worse, if that's possible. You now get one new article per day and that is usually a "puff" piece. Anything of consequence happens in Phuket and PG are about two days behind PW in reporting about it. The Phuket News is about two days behind the PG. Frankly, if PW folds, where do we get local news from?

Phuketwan is the best news source regardless of my feelings towards Ego Morrison. Phuket news is just another advertising rag with paid restaurant reviews. It's the puppy piss matt. It's Phuketwan for the stories and the others if I'm looking for a fire sale or need a service.
March 31, 201511 yr They just published a news story about a drowning in Nai Harn lake I have not seen elsewhere. Edit: just noticed PW published earlier already. I really think that lagoon is dangerous BTW, much more unpredictable and therefor dangerous than the sea. Edited March 31, 201511 yr by stevenl
March 31, 201511 yr "Add your comment" returns a blank page." - I'm having a similar issue. Ah that explains it then as I was trying to post a comment on the article regarding no action on the Phuket tuk tuk mafia and the land breach investigations that were started some time ago. On that subject, well we all know why nothing has happened and in the next jumble of words will be clues..........people in high places, brown envelopes, RTP, corruption......any I've missed?

Famous (infamous) John Magee quote, when challenged about the weakness of the Gazette's responses to "Mafia" stories: "They know where I live." Don't blame him, actually. Edit: Just noticed that they've removed the "Add your comment" button. Hopefully they are merely revamping the web site and all will be back to "normal" in a few days, weeks, mon.... who knows? Why don't they say what is going on? Edit 2: They have been fairly tolerant in the last few months in allowing some pretty strong anti-administration, anti-police and anti-immigration department comments. I wonder if they've been warned by <complete yourself> to stop it? Edited March 31, 201511 yr by JetsetBkk

March 31, 201511 yr Author They appear to have a "legacy" version of their web site: http://legacy.phuketgazette.net/issuesanswers/ It appeared to work as I have just submitted an issue. Whether it is added to the web site or printed paper is another matter. Edited March 31, 201511 yr by JetsetBkk

I wonder if they've been warned by <complete yourself> to stop it? Remember this case? He was shot dead, in front of his wife. http://www.phuketgazette.net/articles/articles/get_article_detail/11998 I believe this journalist wrotes some articles about illegal land titles from the Land Title Office. I suppose being charged with defamation is kind way of shutting someone up, when they could simply have you assassinated.

Sorry, "City". Google "The third suspect has been charged as the mastermind. He is Assadakorn "Pod" Seedokbuab, 48" to read a story about the alleged mastermind - the head of KPP Cable. I can't remember what happened to him. But typically money talks and the perp walks. TIT. Edit: Remove nested quotes. Edited March 31, 201511 yr by JetsetBkk

Of course, you would have to pay a monthly fee, for such bail.
April 1, 201511 yr The whole Phuket Forum website has disappeared, it is just a redirect to Phuket Gazette now. So it really looks like that site is not coming back. April 2, 201511 yr Author The whole Phuket Forum website has disappeared, it is just a redirect to Phuket Gazette now. So it really looks like that site is not coming back. However there now is a comment option on the individual articles on Phuket Gazette website, so looks like they're integrating the 2 sites. Unfortunately, none of the comments are appearing with the articles. Makes it almost not worth reading if you can't have a go at the administration, police, immigration, some stupid farang, etc, etc.
April 10, 201511 yr Author And the forum is back again. I was told it would be back on Saturday - today - but the "Comment" links on the Gazette web pages still don't get to the forum. They still go through the "redirec_to_forum" URLs, which don't work for me - just get a blank page. I can log in to the forum at "http://www.thephuketforum.net/", but even the login process hangs - although I do get logged in as shown when I refresh the page. So there are plenty of gremlins for the guys at the Gazette to sort out. They say you can now start your own topics - so is this going to be in direct competition with Thaivisa? Edit: Links on the Forum go back to the Gazette, but not vice versa. Edited April 10, 201511 yr by JetsetBkk
