Morning all

I will soon be changing ED visas from a Thai language school to my university (I have already started The course here and had to wait for the uni to process my documents). I know that I have to go to Chaeng Wattana 15 days before to change it over. My question is about the cancellation letter. Does the cancellation letter need to state the particular date that I will cancel (I'm planning To go next Monday so that will be the 6th of April) or just that the visa will be cancelled? The letter they have provided me doesn't specify the date (which I had previously specified to the language school) But Only the date that I am due to report (27th of April) is that correct? Nobody from either institution seems to know  and I don't want to waste a day at immigration for them to tell me the letter is wrong.

Thanks in advance.

There is no 15 day before requirement to do the change to a new school. That is only needed to do a change of visa status.

The date on the letter should be equal to the date you go to immigration or a couple of days after.

You can do it at any time because your current extension will be cancelled and and a new one done using paperwork from the university.

You just need the letter from the language school with a date equal to when you go to immigration.

You current extension can only be canceled where it was issued. If you were to go Chiang Mai immigration a couple of days before the date on the letter to cancel your extension they would probably date the cancellation on the date that is on the letter. Then you would have to go to Bangkok immigration to apply for the new extension.

Otherwise you only choice is to go out for a new ED visa.

I'm not getting an extension though. I'm changing the institution (from a Thai language school to university) so I'm 'transferring' if you will.

To change from one school to another requires getting a new extension which means you have to cancel your current extension.

The big problem you have is that you cannot do both steps at the same immigration office.
