Police to check efficiency of private CCTVs under Miracle Eyes campaign

BANGKOK, 31 March 2015 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Police will look into the efficiency of private CCTV cameras that are participating in its Miracle Eyes home-surveillance project.

Assistant Police Commissioner-General Police Lieutenant General Prawut Thawornsiri called a meeting of officials concerned to instruct the quality inspection of various CCTV cameras joining the program after reports indicated that signals sent to police stations were unstable.

The Miracle Eyes project was initiated by the police over a year ago in which images were sent from cameras installed in people’s homes directly to police stations throughout Bangkok.

At the meeting, the Assistant Police Chief expressed his concerns over the quality of participating private CCTVs and the time of police response to each call to deal with break-ins. Under Miracle Eyes, police patrols are expected to arrive at the scene of crime or break-in within 10 minutes. Pol Lt-Gen. Prwut said the timeframe might not be long enough if there were many emergency calls happening at the same time.
