Regarding the pledge that ThaiVisa staff made to the public - that a good media requires good shareholders - and our pledge to perform our work in an honest and fair manner while maintaining our professionalism by watching over abnormalities in Thai society with honour and pride, we would like to reiterate that we seek to carry out our duties without fear or favour, despite threats from those engaging in money games and representing political interest groups.

The past weeks have shown moves by Mr Thaksin Shinawatra to take over Thai Visa through the buying of shares and the situation has raised more suspicion.

The "money game" is relentless and includes activities that, from no matter which standpoint, demonstrate a lack of goodwill on the part of the share buyers.

There're no signs that the moves will be constructive to media work in order to benefit society. All these signs reflect a threat to our long-cherished professional code of conduct that we have upheld for over four decades.

The situation is also likely to escalate and lead to a threat against the spirit of free media as more money is being used to pursue the goal of domination that is not right under the rules and regulations.

It is inevitable that we have to step forward to stand shoulder to shoulder again in order to protect what we have built together under this professional pledge in order to thwart money groups from taking over and using us as a base to seek unwarranted benefits.

This is our unwavering stance.

In my viewand I recall watching the clip and believing it too( well I was only 12 years old then) this was and in truth still is the best April Fools hoax ever.

The progamme Panorama along with the lte Richard Dimbley were indeed icons of B.B.C. honest factual reporting in those days

We all have a sense of humor well most of us anyway.

My humour is sarcastic so perhaps that is or was beyond your ken.

Besides has it or did it occur to you that there are certainly members here who are not aware of the All fools day or April Fools day antics

Actually as Samran pointed out someone is currently trying to buy the Nation. My OP is an almost word-for-word copy of a Nation's staff mesage. Is the buyer related to a political group ? That I have absolutely no idea.

Many Thai visa members had better hope that this is an April fools day leg puller, because considering all the digs and insults you have thrown at Thaksin Shinawatra on here in the past, if he does take over TV the consequences for the Mr Thaksin bashers will be dire.

i live north thai and i hear all villages people hear are placing 1bag of rice to the cause

I think the D-guy will shut down TV long before Thaksin enters any picture.

If that were true....they would all worry about other existing assets....

and they are plentiful......but not illegal....
