Land Transport Dept. launches anti-road accident prevention campaign for Songkran festival

BANGKOK, 3 April 2015 (NNT) - The Department of Land Transport has launched the anti-road accident campaign for the upcoming Songkran festival.

Deputy Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith on Thursday chaired the official launch of the 2015 anti-road accident campaign that will be active during the annual Thai New Year holiday period.

According to Mr. Arkhom, the DLT has declared 2015 as the year of speed control under the theme “Slow Down, Save Your Live,” which has been designed to encourage motorists to realise speeding can cost both lives and properties.

For this year’s campaign, the department has since March 9 collaborated with 2,000 privately-owned auto service shops across the countries plus certified businesses specialised in installing gas systems for vehicles to offer inspection service for all cars at no charge.

In addition, free engine inspection service will also be offered along main and minor roads throughout Thailand during April 9 and 15.

Why launch an ANTI- accident prevention campaign?

They don't have enough accidents in their opinion?

Here we go, here we go, here we go !

Songkran approaches so time for all the nonsense etc that passes for a road safety campaign.

Anthony. You are a very evil man...............clap2.gif

Hmmm save your Live? oh you mean slow down save your life. or slow down save lives is that the same as drive on sidewalk save time

Why not, this year, just enforce the existing laws of :helmets, safety belts, and drunk driving? i am quite sure only this could helpe

Forget the engines, how about targeting bald tyres deadly on wet roads.

What's wrong with prevention the rest of the year? Or is the rest of the year too ludicrous in baksheesh to tamper with?

Thailand would do well to have the Land Transport dept. run by someone from a second or first world country with the enforcement of southern USA state troopers.

Don't drink and drive.

SIMPLE

Drink and don't drive.

Simpler.

And far more enjoyable.

It is a tragi-comedy of alarming proportions that each public holiday the authorities highlight the 'dangerous days' whilst ignoring the rest of the year where the number of fatalities are usually the same or more.

"Slow Down, Save Your Live".

Pathetic.

Put some pretty horrific TV adverts and outdoor signage showing families losing children, killing innocent people and losing family members and the consequences.

This is band aid....and a pretty weak bandaid at that.
