BANGKOK: -- THE National Legislative Assembly (NLA) yesterday approved in principle three bills on the anti-money laundering agency, which will see the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) moved from the Justice Ministry and put directly under the prime minister.

EU also against use of Article 44
THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- THE European Union has joined the chorus of international criticism over National Council for Peace and Order chief General Prayut Chan-o-cha's decision to invoke Article 44 in the provisional charter, saying the move "does not bring Thailand closer to democratic and accountable government".

The statement, issued late on Thursday night by Federica Mogherini, spokeswoman for the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in Thailand, also called on the government to stop using military courts to try civilians.

Knife attack on 17 year old over mobile phone at East Pattaya Beauty Salon

PATTAYA: -- A 17 year old girl was allegedly stabbed by her 24 year old boyfriend at a Beauty Salon in East Pattaya on Friday afternoon after she refused to hand over her phone to her jealous boyfriend who wanted to check who had called her.

Thailand is facing yet another surplus that may be worse than the rice surplus seen earlier in the year. Currently, rubber prices have tumbled from their 2011 highs as well as overall demand for the country’s rubber exports. Domestic prices for rubber have increased in Thailand, but global prices have not.

The Green Line from Mor Chit has been approved for an extension. The extension will have the Mor Chit line run to Saphan Mai and Khu Kot. The approval came on Friday from the MRTA (Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand). Four contracts, with a combined worth of 27.7 billion baht, have been signed for the expansion project.

Hundreds of foreign fisherman were rescued from an isolated island on Friday. Indonesian officials are investigating reported abuses in the fishing industry. Out of concern for the men’s safety, Indonesian rescue boats offered to take the men away from the island.

Once again, the Tiger Temple is making headlines. Wildlife officials made an attempt to rescue six black bears from cages in the temple. Officials were stopped by about 100 monks and disciples. The group blocked the gates to prevent the officials from leaving the property. The black bears are said to have been illegally possessed by the temple.

Announcement on HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s visit to Morocco

BANGKOK, 4 April 2015 (NNT) - Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn is scheduled to visit the Kingdom of Morocco from April 4 to 19, 2015.

According to an announcement by the Bureau of the Royal Household, Her Royal Highness will take part in an international symposium on Plant Kingdom: Source of Medicines, Nutraceuticals and Cosmetics from April 7-9 and will also give a lecture on April 7 at Marrakech at the invitation of the organizer of the symposium.

Her Royal Highness left Thailand from Suvarnabhumi Airport last night and will return to Thailand on April 19.
