Polish man assaulted by Pattaya Go-Go Bar Security Guards

PATTAYA: -- In the early hours of Monday a 55 year old Polish man was injured during an altercation with two Security Guards at a Walking Street Go-Go Bar which is now facing the possibility of receiving a temporary closure order of at-least 30 days.

The incident occurred at the newly-opened Skyfall Go-Go Bar located at the Northern end of Walking Street and was reported to Tourist Police by Mr. Rafal Jakowicki who was treated by medics for a deep laceration to his forehead.

Tourist Police Officers detained the two Security Guards alleged to be involved in the incident, Khun Egapon aged 28 and Khun Panu aged 33, who were later taken to Pattaya Police Station and one of them was charged with assault.

The pair claimed that the Polish customer was asked to leave the bar and refused to leave. The Guards claimed he was drunk and abusive and initiated a fight with Khun Panu. Khun Egapon ran inside to assist his colleague and eventually the man was taken outside where he was reportedly struck across the head with a steel hook by Khun Panu who was later charged with assault.

Remember though, the Pole might be one of these guys who turns into a major-league A-holevampire.gif when he's got the drink in him, plenty of 'em around!!

Then again, maybe not.

I totally agree with you.

But, there is only one occasion where I have seen the police doing evicting and that was when the bouncers where outnumbered / out muscled. Otherwise I have always seen "self-evictions". I am speaking of various countries I have been to - not just Thailand.

The Thai security said he had been hit by the Polish man. (According to my Mrs who watched a Thai TV report), so perhaps not quite as you say. Nevertheless, security here is often heavy handed and one gets an impression 'trouble' is something they enjoy getting involved in rather than subduing.

Grabbing a weapon should not be their first move!

When security guards escort someone to the front door and evict them due to the state of their intoxication, they do not beat them to a pulp. When a patron becomes violent, or threatens violence, well who knows what may come their way. This could have been an each way bet. It may have been that either the security guards or the drunken patron were going to be injured in a physical confrontation. In this case it was the drunken tourist (Guest in Thailand) who came off second best. If you are at the point of intoxication where it is likely that you will become aggressive and or threaten harm to the hosts of your holiday destination, save it till you get home, or go home. No one wins by coming to Thailand and disrespecting the culture, brooding for a fight, or showing off your drinking skills. If asked to leave a premises, smile, walk on, walk out, and go back to your condo or hotel. Live to drink another day.

Up until the point when the Pole was struck on the head with a metal hook (???), the bouncers appeared to be doing their job.

The world over, this is what bouncers do, yet it still makes local headlines in an area that has more clubs than most countries have.

Baiting headlines IMHO.

Whatever went down here, the bouncers need to get it through their thick heads that they are no longer a law unto themselves. According to a Farang tourist cop I spoke to a few months back, this is supposed to be the way it works now : if the footage shows the bouncers are in the wrong the club is in deep doodoo. I know - the law vs enforcement yada yada - but its up to the powers-that-be : if they want images of punters covered in blood on news sites, just let a bunch of uneducated yokels from Nakhon Nowhere continue to decide what constitutes 'reasonable use of force'. Whether this Polish guy was or wasnt being an A-grade douche or not shouldnt be the issue here - its whether Pattaya wants to arrest the slide in tourist numbers or let the town slide further into the pit. I've spent too much time trying to point out to the haters that the majority of people who come here dont end up battered and bruised, but there's no point when an image like that speaks volumes for the overkill that seems to have occurred when our friend refused to leave.

All I ask is to show a little respect...

He is in a foreign country, and yes Thailand does have laws.

My guess is he got his ass kicked for being a total a**hole....

Seen this many times before, and from what I ever witnessed, most of them deserved it.!

Maybe their embassies could give them a little,

Training on how to act in Thailand.....

Just a thought.....rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

I would think that the reason you have security is to handle these problems, hopefully quietly, without the need to call in the police. Maybe this guy just walked into their bar, drunk, and they wanted to just escort him out. This should be their right. The problem developed when a (poorly trained), (over zealous), take your pick, security guard decided he was Rambo. Fault the bar for the hiring an idiot, fine them, but certainly no need to put them out of business. I am sure that you also have made mistakes in life? Maybe many times? We all have.....

The lesson here is do not act like a fool and you won't have these problems.

I saw a fight break out with some enraged drunk Arab guy this weekend who just wouldn't quit.

Then I notice one security guard quietly picked up a metal pipe that was hidden behind his back and it was about to get ugly. so Don't just think being big farang means you will automatically win.

Its that not what the tourist police are for? Calling them would have been better. Or am I missing something? Tourist Police for show only?

So the Pole got poled?

Most likely thet the thugs couldn't read what was on the T shirt - whether it was in English or Thai!

I can't understand why TV don't have a daily placeholder titled farang assaulted in Pattaya and just leave a spot for the name and nationality.

No it isn't a mistake. Take it easy and enjoy yourselves.

This year for Songkran my 2 year old Thai granddaughter is coming to stay with us, and we are going to have tremendous fun with her as she loves playing with water.

Incidentally, I have lived in Pattaya for 8 years with my Thai wife and have not had any problems at all, including the many nights when I have gone to Walking Street with friends. It really annoys me when members who may never have been here knock Pattaya.

I went to Pattaya once. Stayed 6 hours, left and never returned. Not my cup of Thai tea.

Only TWO guys got the boot in? Things are changing in the LOS. ;-)

This particular bar or the whole go-go business?

I think the real reason he said something wrong about Russia)

there is an incredible amount of A holes out there but I have seen many many times that these Thai door men are all too ready to jump and thump any foreigner that they can. Often beating them to a defenseless pulp when it could easily have been handled in a more professional way. It is managements responsibility to make sure their employees handle these situations with as little vilolence as possible, not just wait for the opportunity to use a customer as a punching bag.

Security guards wanna have fun too...wai2.gif

Obviously the Metal hook appeared out of nowhere. Sooner or later somebody would have met the hook anyway.

This Guard should be done for premeditated attack and bodily harm, hope the Russian takes a few day's in Hospital just to make

the charge stick. The longer the better even if not needed.

They are not security guards,

they are bouncers and most of the time Rambo like, quick to fight, dumb scum.
