Israel official: Military action against Iran still possible

Featured Replies

I wonder if Israel is hoping against all hope that the Arabs take out Iran. It seems like every day there's more reason to think they might.

Iran's behavior and statements might make one wonder if it is sane. It seems blind to the notion that antagonizing its neighbors could bring really bad results. The Arab coalition might be seen as an attack on Iran in Yemen already. Iran doesn't seem to notice and forges ahead.

It's time to take another look at whether this is about Israel only. Israel is probably prepared to attack Iran if it feels it must, but I'll bet it would rather be part of a group, or better yet sit back and lick its chops while the Arabs take care of business. I doubt that Israel wants all of the world watching it (and moaning in places) if it does it alone.

It's a truly interesting and complex situation which seems only to lead to war.

"Netanyahu has warned of the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran for years" Should read, "Netanyahu has cried wolf for years."...or perhaps more accurately, "...lied through his teeth for years"

You can bet your bottom dollar that the US will back Israel (or an Arab coalition) if it decides to take out Iran's nuclear program. That support includes the Whitehouse. Obama may not like Netanyahu, but the US's allies are the US's allies, and Israel is an ally. Regardless of where negotiations are, the US would never side with Iran. There is just way too much history. Any footdragging that has been done, has been done by Iran. They could have had a nuclear deal long, long ago.

It is about time that some of these regional powers started to act in their own best interest and that the US decided to take a backseat.

If you think some people would be upset with Israel acting, it would be about 1/2 the world upset if the US did. You don't want a world policeman? Well, guess what, you don't have one. Let the natives run amok.

Israel will do it, and they will act alone, however they won't take credit for it and will leave the world to speculation

They did this in Syria one morning completely obliterating their almost finished nuclear facilities, and they will do the same in Iran.

The USA will remain silent, the Chinese will remain silent and the French will claim credit for allowing IAf planes to use their carrier ships so the. Israel pilots have less ground to cover and can get to safety before anyone wakes up.

Iran can not retaliate as they are being humiliated on battlefields close to home and are showing the world, they are no match for real modern warfare

Look at their sorry record against ISIS in Iraq.

If we were allowed to include Syria in this discussion I would detail their pitiful performance there as well.

They have a new problem on their border with Pakistan now, as 8 soldiers were just killed by Pakistan soldiers who are sending Iran a message.

Israel will have no opposition from Arab capitals as none of them are interested in the mullahs taking more territory and outshining them in their world.

It's a new dawn in the middle East, as the borders are all redrawn by the CIA

If Israel attacks Iran without provocation, things will not work out according to your scenario.

That arguement is straight-out fallacious.

At this point it would be a last resort for Israel. If the deal is ever signed Israel and others would be expected to give it a chance. Israel is pushing for a better deal now but they have limited leverage. If no deal then that's different.

Israel doesnt have to do anything

The Ayatollah today has publicly stated there is no deal

And no agreements to continue talking without the immediate and full lifting g of sanctions

Obama has lost face

One off topic post removed.

Dancing in the streets of Tehran about snookering the world was premature.
