Wang Yen railway station in Kanchanaburi gutted

BANGKOK: -- A railway station in Kanchanaburi province was completely destroyed by a fire which was suspected to be caused by a short circuit.

Mr Chaiwat Sribundhitbovorn, chief of the Wang Yen railway station in Muang district, told Muang district police that while he was resting in front of the station this morning he heard what sound like something were burning and then saw smoke come out of the station.

Chaiwat then alerted his men and used four available fire extinguishers in the station to try to douse the fire but without success. The fire quickly spread out and engulfed the whole station which was eventually reduced to ashes one hour later.

Police said that they had to find out the actual cause of the fire anyway.

Looks like a small bonfire gone wrong.....!

Electrics most likely

Poltergeists???

That railway has many ghosts...

Doesn't look much of a station!

From the OP it seems there are at least 3 men employed at this rather small station. I have to wonder what they do, besides "resting in front of the station".

With 6 services per day, ticket sales must take up much of their time.

Why, how would it be relevant?

Why would I wonder why there are at least 3 men employed on a small station that in most countries would only warrant a ticket machine? I guess I'm just a curious type of person who doesn't like waste or corruption.

BTW why do people buy cheese full of holes?
