I read an article in the Bangkok Post some time ago (sorry i can't remember when) about the left luggage office at Hua Luphong Railway station. It seems that bags were left there at "your own risk" and there were many thefts. Most tourists were in too much of hurry to leave to file complaints with the railway authorities. The few that filed complaints never really got anything out of it. There were close circuit Tv cameras installed but they never worked.

Only when tourists filed complaints with the police did they manage to get a little compensation and then not every time.

I have no idea what it's like now but knowing the authorities here ....

I certainly wouldn't leave anything there.

Bump for this topic.

Some more secure places ?

I know of a place, but its at the airport. Used it to store luggage while I made a quick jaunt down to Phuket for a few days.

Do a search in the Bangkok forum, you will find plenty of answers to your question.

Cheers.

I was looking at this for storage of scuba gear rather than drag it back and forth:

Although these are common in the UK, it's the only such place I've found so far (on the web) in BKK.

Cons:

1) It's a bit far down Suk (Thong Lo).

2) They don't give any prices.

3) Probably no good for dumping stuff 'for a few hours'.

Haven't tried them myself - anybody?

Darrel Lintott, Bangkok Self Storage's facility manager, said that since the the launch at the end of January, around 30% of the 169 available units have been rented. Sizes range from a tiny 1.5-square-metre cell all the way up to 18 square metres, with rents from 2,200 to 9,000 baht a month respectively _ payment at the start of the month _ plus a deposit equivalent to a one-month rental. The minimum rental period is a month

11. Is there a certain storage period?

You are welcome to stay for as long as you need storage. However we do require our customers to store for a minimum of 4 weeks.

I had no problem leaving my luggages there for a full day at hua lumpong station. Seems fine to me
