Palestinian killed in clashes with Israeli forces
EYAD MOGHRABI, Associated Press

BEIT UMMAR, West Bank (AP) — A Palestinian was killed and about a dozen wounded in clashes with Israeli soldiers that erupted after a funeral in the West Bank, Palestinian officials said Friday.

An emergency room doctor at Al Ahli Hospital in Hebron said 27-year-old Ziad Awad arrived from the nearby town of Beit Ummar in critical condition with a bullet in the abdomen and later died of his wounds.

Another 10 people were being treated for minor injuries sustained by rubber bullets, he said. The doctor spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Earlier, thousands attended a funeral for the man's cousin, who died three months after being released early from an Israeli prison due to illness.

After the funeral, Palestinians threw rocks at soldiers manning a watchtower on a road near the town, according to witnesses.

Israel's military said Palestinians threw rocks and firebombs, and rolled burning tires toward soldiers. It said troops used tear gas at first, but fired low-caliber bullets at the legs of four men after the soldiers felt their lives were in danger.

The United Nations released a statement calling for calm and restraint. The statement expressed "sympathy for the victims" of violence in the past week.

A Palestinian stabbed two Israeli soldiers outside a West Bank settlement on Wednesday before he was killed by one of the soldiers. Israel saw a wave of similar attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem toward the end of last year, but the violence had mostly subsided.

Tit for tat, and the usual, daily pound of flesh, such is life and existent in that part of the world, no amount of justifications from either side warrant the loos of life, alas, it's happening everyday.....

And on the land owned by Palestine people before....

Who took the land of the Israelites previously. Israel has a long history dating back long before there was a Mohammed or a Jesus. It has been over run and liberated hundreds of times through the centuries of time. Where do you start the timeline?

Yes I am still trying to locate this country of Palestein so I can go visit. Can not seem to find any history on this country either. I did see on the new these nuts throwing rocks and rolling burning tires at guys with guns.

What kind of numb skull does this anyway.

Tit for tat? That implies some sort of equivalency.....which is far from the reality.

We all know who is supplying arms to Israel, but who is supplying the Palastinians with rocks?

It was NEVER owned by the Palestinian people. There was no such thing. It was the property of the British and the Ottoman Empire before that.

As for equivalency, maybe the Israelis should use full metal jacket rounds instead of rubber bullets. How much are they supposed to pull their punches after almost 70 years of war, started by the Arabs in the first place?

Throwing rocks, sling shots, petrol bombs, rolling burning tyres etc are not actions of peaceful protest. They are intended to hurt, injure, maim or kill.

It's time those who indulge in such activities realized that the consequence for them might be getting shot - with rubber bullets or real bullets. It's time security forces not only protected themselves but also were allowed to maintain law and order.

The IDF face relentless provocation designed to provoke responses that can be used for PR.

Palestinians of Beyt Ummar have been in trouble for ages with the IDF and Israeli settlers.

Last year, before Operation Protective Edge, Israeli settlers destroyed large quantities of Palestinian grapevines.

During the operation, 3 Palestians were killed during a demonstration.

On Naqba Day, again last year, the IDF, performed many raids on the local population around Hebron (Beyt Ummar) resulting in massive emprisonment of random young and old. Most of them have not been released.

The killing on the funeral mentioned in OP is nothing more than another violation of international laws in occupied territory.

IDF was not aiming in the air with warning shots.

OP has nothing to do with Israeli Arabs and ISIS...

Would you be happier if soldiers threw the rocks backs and burning tires ? Or may be you prefer IDF walked around stabbing them?
Or perhaps they could play football with the heads of decapitated Palestinians, which ISIS are currently doing in Syria. Whoops silly me, nobody cares a jot about any equivalency there.

Please enlighten me. What has ISIS got to do with the Palestinians?

Israel has a problem. They better solve it, before the whole world (except a

few)comes down on them.

Or so the irrational obsessive Israel demonizers WISH.

Of course Israel has a problem.

So do many other countries, and often much worse.

But for some strange reason, so many are focused ONLY on Israel.

Hmm. coffee1.gif

To the Israel demonizers Israel "solving" their problems translates as Israel giving up it's fight to exist.

Good luck with that.

Every victim, from both sides, can be seen as a tragedy.

Why not for the guy from the OP ?

Because when you attack someone who is armed you make a conscience choice that you could be hurt or even killed

Perhaps the legal context will tell you more about the degree of consiousness :

1. actus reus: any conduct resulting in the death of another individual. This is when you shoot with live bullets to a crowd. No Israeli was reported as hurted... but a few palestinians were shot with live ammo and rubber bullets.

2. mens rea: intent or knowledge that the conduct would result in the death. Palestinians went to a funeral for a relative. IDF forces didn't really had to go to the funeral in occupied territory. Armed IDF soldiers worked provocative.

A fragile counscience is acceptable in a funeral if you're a relative of the victim. The funeral could have happened completely different and peacefull without IDF.

Why do not you try to attack a police officer in your country and if you do not get shot on the spot, you could use the degrees of conscientiousness in court and see how well it will do you thumbsup.gif

Because it is perfectly acceptable for Arab to kill Arab. But when it's Israel well that's an excuse to bash Israel.

It is a shame there is no thread on ISIL over running the Yarmouk Refugee camp, and what is happening to the Palestinians in that camp, or how Abbas is happy to sit back and let it happen without even trying to defend his own people.

The hypocrisy!

Please note that Palestinian refugees in Syria are there because they had to flee Palestina under Israeli occupation and the IDF armed operations. Many of them lost their land due to new Israeli settlers projects.

To remember that IDF bombed more than once UN shelters and refugee camps.

For me, it's logical to find those Palestinian refugees in Syria and there's no much difference in being killed by IDF and/or ISIS if you acknowledge the Palestinian diaspora...and Israeli occupation in the same time !

Here again, a IDF bullet has killed another person...
