Kittens and ringworm

Featured Replies

I recently rescued two kittens (~1 month, will be 2 soon) from my daughter's school, where they were found in a poorish state - one simply skinny, the other also visibly sick. They've been treated with antibiotics and eat well, and everything else has been cleared... Except for ringworm. I only got the diagnosis on the third vet visit, as the patches of bald skin were sort of forgotten in the general treatment of everything else, and only became more obvious once everything else began clearing up.

I've read up on ringworm, and I'd rather want to avoid an infestation of spores in my house. I've kept the kittens isolated from day one, feeding and treating them regularly, but not allowing them into the house proper. The black one has a real temper, she's destroyed two collars and will generally treat me as an intruder, baring her teeth and hissing at me. She's the one who was much worse off when I found them. Her brown sister is very sweet.

They came into our life at a ... challenging point, but were in such a state, I simply couldn't leave them. I'm prepared to care for them for the rest of their lives, but would need a bit of help at this point - ringworm is notoriously difficult to get rid of.

Does anyone know of a place (preferably in or near Rayong) where I could leave the kittens for (good and loving, obviously) care and treatment until 100 % clear from ringworm? Our vet estimated that it'd take about 2 months, treatment commenced yesterday. I've tried to find local options, including simply help with caring for them, but come short...

Anyone? If not, any ideas of how to make life easier while dealing with ringworm? I currently wear protective gear when I visit them (gloves, apron, footwear), feed them twice a day, spray with antifungals twice a day, bathe them every three days (boy do they hate that, especially the black one would love to murder me every time, and does try to) for up to 10 mins each, and keep their living area and everything around as clean as I can. It's a bit exhausting, especially as I don't exactly have a lull in my life right now.
