EMS - from Pattaya Post Office to Sterling, VA in 15 days

It's looking like the packages I posted just before Songkran will be lucky to reach the US/Europe inside the 3 week mark, but this was a relative success story given that I was quoted '1-2 weeks'. Note that USPS provided the tracking in the US - apparently you wont get anything in some countries. Current status is 'Out for Delivery'. The ISC in New York is allegedly a USPS/Customs black hole according to some of the 'experts' on Google, but a lot of the posts read more like trolling efforts than serious feedback - still not encouraging when the status doesnt change for days on end.

Note that the EMS Thailand tracking gives up when the parcel lands in the destination country. 8 days on a cargo plane somewhere over the Pacific or in a customs sorting centre - gotta love it.

Unless I totally screwed the 'To' address on this package, it would appear that something has gone very wrong in the leadup to Songkran - had a feeling it was a little too good to be true given the feedback from others.

A week in Customs/Clearance is about standard.

You can get it through in days, but that's an exception certainly not the norm.

The last one you posted on the 11th, with songkran shutdown, wont move until they re-open on the 16th.

Thanks CharlieH - as others have pointed out, the 18th may not be the most productive day in the history of Thailand's postal / Customs workers either :(

As with most things, timing is everything - I guess I'll soon find out how understanding my buyers are on that point.

Not quite time to pop any champagne just yet .... clearly, getting the box with the Fragile symbol is a complete waste of time for the bozos who load and unload packages - no shortage of viral videos showing them being literally thrown from vans etc.

The headphones arrived earlier today. Unfortunately, they arrived broken: one of the earpieces snapped off the yoke connector.

And the hits keep coming - they sent a package destined for Italy back to Pattaya meaning I'm going to have to do the one thing I have no interest in doing during Songkran - catch a motosai taxi down Soi Post Office, one of the worst sois for water throwing. Fan-freakin-tastc.

best one, is when a parcel is returned, and they want to charge you "import tax" on your own product !!......yep, totally true!

Thankfully that didnt happen, but they rejected the package because one of the electronic components has a battery in it - I knew they didnt like alkaline or lead acid batteries but I naively thought a rechargeable NIMH in a completely sealed case would be OK. DHL will ship it, but I'm not going to pay their exorbitant prices for a 310USD sale.

Soi 13/2 was surprisingly dry bar a few kids throwing water at one another - guess my intel must have been wrong or perhaps it was just too early in the day for the serious water fights in a soi that has a variety of non-bar businesses.

Next time try Thaivisa's Partner service from Bangkok Cheap shipping, for less or same price as EMS its there in 2-3 days bit.ly/sendwithus
