TV BOX BIG PLAYER TRONSMART LAUNCHED THEIR MXIII

Nice little device. Note that there's a 1GB and 2GB version. Some vendors swap out the standard remote controls for less featured one.

If using WiFi, my preference is always a set top box with an external antenna.

The tronsmart 2Gb version can be had for 2458 Baht, and the 1gb version for 2120 Baht, but why you think tronsmart is better since it has the same components inside.

Wouldn't the 1Gb sufficient for me because I'm not in a position to stream movies anyway as I can only get 3G connection here.

"I have a media server with a thousand of movies and more important over 200.000 of songs." Call me impressed! Well done...

Only important if you want to use it for Video Playback in the future.

^^ updated version of the CS918 I have. That would work, too.

I'm ready to order the CS918 plus, which I now found for 73$ include shipping, but actually think if there isn't another option so that I don't need to waste money.

The whole XBMC/Kodi thing is Latin to me, and I think I don't have much use from it as I will not be able to download or stream movies or even connect to a netflix like service or whatever.

What I need is a Teamviewer like app installed on my media player.

There is a windows/mac and Linux version, and now they have a Android app to install on your smartphone.

Am I correct that the Himedia player runs on Linux? So in that case it should be possible to install teamviwer on it, right?

Or is there another similar software I could use?

The xbmc/kodi is an application (and application environment). Think of it as similar to a "Replacement Launcher"

It's biggest draw is simplistic interface and extensibility of function through add-ons. While many of the add-ons are Internet dependent, there are add-ons that work with DVB Tuners and media servers. You just need to google to find out what's available (and currently supported).

The android version of TeamViewer should work on most Android TV Set Top Boxes. They also have VNC server/clients for Android OS that I use for remote setup so I don't have to sit in front of the TV to do things.

While the HiMedia HD910 runs Linux (or android) it's a Compact Embedded Linux version, and 512MB RAM / 2GB NAND FLASH, meaning they're meant to be used with the feature set as set by the firmware. Which is why some people will purchase HTPC Linux boxes so they can set the box up with whatever options they want.

That is actually the only thing I need, control the box over WIFI without sitting in front of the tv.

The Android OS is 2.2. Will teamviewer work on it or can you point me to such a VNC that will work on it?

Finding a VNC or Remote Access app that will work with Android OS 2.2 might be a problem. Most now are Android OS 4.0+ only.

And that old media box doesn't have access to the market (playstore) where it would show you compatibility. You'd have to side-load an apk and see if it worked.

For the new Android device it won't be a problem.

As for TeamViewer, it's relationship with Apple iOS and Google Android devices is a bit more restricted. You can download the "TeamViewer For Remote Control" app to connect to other computers running TeamViewer remote access, but it won't allow remote access of the iOS or Android device (it's only a viewer).

To actually control and administer an iOS or Android device you need the "TeamViewer QuickSupport" app installed on the device to be remotely controlled, and a "TeamViewer Licensed" (pay) version of the full TeamViewer desktop software that allows the remote technician to access your device as if it were in their own hands. (Compatible devices from Samsung, Sony, Asus (for business customers), Lenovo, HTC, LG, ZTE, Huawei, Alcatel One Touch / TCL and more).

How can I control my Android device with TeamViewer?

edit: rewrite for clarity

Ehh, just tried the TeamViewer QuickSupport app on my iMobile smartphone. connected fine with my free desktop TeamViewer account (didn't require the licensed version).

Gonna try tomorrow, but it probably gonna be a disappointment, as Teamviewer quick support needs Android 2.3.3 minimum and the Himedia is 2.2.1 facepalm.gif

Being playing around with the piece of shit Himedia, and finally gave up.

Got APK installer installed but doesn't install the Teamviewer quicksupport.

Clearly something wrong with that box. Under the Android operating system big problems to get network connection, however under the linux operating system it is no problem and I can connect to internet, but under Android one minute can than it stops.

Will be the CS918 plus then.
