Work permit for Certificate of residence

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Great pinned checklist for getting a motorcycle, cheers!

For a motorbike license, will my work permit be accepted instead of a certificate of residence? Im in Bangkok and keep hearing different stories.

Also it seems that my drivers license MUST come from my country (Im Aussie, so need Aussie license), but mine is from Vietnam. Is that still accepted?

Thanks all!

If you have a work permit then you do not need a cert of residence.

You don't need a any license to buy a bike, but you need one to ride it legally. I'm not 100% but I would say the license from Vietnam would be fine for the first 3 months then you would need a Thai one.

Work permit is good, no need for a residence certificate.

Not sure about the Vietnam license, if I were you I would just take it with you when you go to get your Thai driver's license and ask them. If they accept it, you'll be able to skip the test. If not, you'll have to do the test.
