April 23, 201511 yr Popular Post We have many, many threads in this forum, which is one of its strengths, but sometimes this generates confusion as to which thread one should post. Recently "Cityscapes" was created - essentially Urban Landscapes; this thread is the counterbalance to that, and is intended to make life easier for posters looking outside the towns and cities. The aim of this thread is to gather any photos of rural landscapes be they 'natural', human or an interaction of the two (as indeed, almost all landscapes are). Let's be clear, it is not intended to detract from other threads if posters prefer to post there. For the avoidance of confusion and without tight geogrpahic definitions, 'rural' is going to include everything that isn't 'urban' or 'cityscape'...villages, countryside, physical features, and human activity, outwith the towns and cities. Photos can be in any format one wishes,(colour, monochrome or other pp effect) but they must be taken in Thailand. Please add a location, so that when Rob goes on his travels, he's got a bucket list!! As an afterthought, it might be interesting to post both b&w and colour if at all possible, so that we can encourage sensible discussions of the two approaches. Some of the most dramatic landscape shots I have ever taken (many years ago) were 35mm black and white. Anyway, enough OP yap. Let's get on and enjoy ourselves! What can I use that I haven't posted before??... Life on the edge. Strawberry monoculture around Ban Khop Dong, on Doi Angkang, Fang District, CM Physically and economically precarious existence. 2014/15's weather caused a very poor crop yield. What future for the Lahu people in Ban Khop Dong? Edited April 23, 201511 yr by Rob8891
April 23, 201511 yr Popular Post Rural Landscapes ; I am sure that 90% will have a farming element to them , given the local environment . This image taken with I phone 4 Nong Saen Loei Province
April 23, 201511 yr Author ^^ Good point, Goompa, so maybe folk should also think about posting to Shaggy's Farming photos over in the Farming forum.
April 23, 201511 yr Some of mine are rice fields, sugar cane fields etc., so after your post as OP Rob8891 are you asking us to double post our photos in two different forums? OK I will bite Rice fields in Kan, at Wat Tum Suae Sugar Cane in Kan Province Good one by the way as I missed that topic to post. Well one did start 6 Scape topics, but under different names, not using the Scape bit in the topic and 4 with the Scape in it. Win
April 23, 201511 yr Author ^^ Double post? Not really as, if one considers my post, it would be pretty clear that it would be addressing two different audiences. 10 "scape" threads?? I wonder if I can rename this the Escape thread.
April 23, 201511 yr Good one by the way as I missed that topic to post. Really? Funny, because it was the only one that I asked you to start! @Rob,many thanks for starting this topic
April 23, 201511 yr Popular Post ^^ Good point, Goompa, so maybe folk should also think about posting to Shaggy's Farming photos over in the Farming forum. Absolutely . If the percentage of the image lends itself to be considered a farm orientated image , by all means . I was merely making an observation to the fact that most of rural Thailand is dotted with farms and rice paddies , this is not to say that there are not opportunities to take and create a Landscape image of rural Thailand ,not in this element . I feel as though everything rural about Thailand does have a " Farm" element , even the waterways have this . Please don't shoot the messenger , it is just my personal observation . Everything about Thailand is unique and mystifying , and the images sublime , if we could only capture them as we feel them in our heart would be Truly Amazing .
