Where to find parts/service for a '78 Yammie sr500

Featured Replies

A friend of mine has a '78 Yamahahahahaha sr500 The nice neighbor lady's sister backs into it with her car, jamming it up against a concrete wall. It was parked. There is damage to the front forks and the real wheel. It's an insurance situation, if they actually pay.... The problem is, there is not readily available parts for this vintage monstrosity. Does anyone know where to find the parts? Does anyone know anyone with enough grey matter to repair the bike without using a sledgehammer?

Thanks, in advance!

How long have you been in Thailand? The 'monstrosity' as you call it, is one of the most common 'big' bikes here. Granted,it's the 400 version, but they're almost identical.

There is absolutely no shortage of parts for the SR.

Join the many Facebook groups or head to srthailand.com....

Also, knowing WHERE the bike is located could help in suggesting a place where they can fix it.

There is a good shop about a kilometer from my apartment.

They do a lot this kind of thing.

99% sure they would fix it quickly, professionally and reasonably priced.

@ Papa Al; The bike is in Bang Sue. Where's the shop if you don't mind?

@ OR; If you saw the bike you would understand the reference, 'monstrosity', but don't let that deter your unfriendly manner. It was tongue-in-cheek humor lost only upon.....well you get my drift.

My unfriendly manner?! oh well...

You give no info regarding were the bike is located, are a newbie on the forum and you expect me to read your mind and somehow know that it was meant to be tongue in cheek.

I tried to be helpful, but I'm sure you'll figure it out somehow on your own.
