I just came back from Jomtien immigration today 4/27/2015 and the immigration officer doing the 90 day reports told me.

You only need a cancellation letter from your school if you are leaving the country before your visa end date.

In other words if you go to the border on the final day of your visa you can just leave the country with no cancellation letter.

I have heard a lot of different things on this forum about this I would like confirmation that this is correct.

Thanks

I tryed crossing on my last day and was told I needed a letter. On the same day, I got the letter but I was not asked for it when I went across the second time 3 hours later. This was at the Non Kai crossing.

Hello,

I have decided to leave the country recently, but my Ed Visa is still valid.

My last extension is valid until 31st of May, 2015. I am flying out of the country on that day and have read that you do not need a cancellation letter when flying out of the country.

Can someone confirm this? I want to make sure they won't ask me for a letter on the day that I leave at the airport.

Thanks

IF you have a valid "VISA" no one will hinder you leaving .

But perhaps there is a "extension of stay" (not a "Visa" .....learn the difference ! ) in the passport ?

Best check exactly what is stuck/ stamped in the passport !

You will not need the letter if you are flying out of the country. It is only needed at the Nong Khai border crossing.

As ubonjoe said, it is only needed at Nong Khai crossing. I used another Laos crossing, Mukdahan to Savannakhet a few days ago with a valid ED extension and no question were asked, it was totally problem free.
