Thailand has allocated Bt100 million for disaster relief efforts in Nepal. A variety of fundraising campaigns swept across Thailand yesterday, with residents donating Bt56 million. A 19-person medical team has been dispatched to Nepal as well.

The medical team will be stationed at the Thai embassy and a Buddhist temple as well as the public health ministry in Nepal.

Thailand has designated up to 10 tonnes of medical supplies to be sent to Nepal over the next two months. The ministry is asking for Bt20 million to be able to fund the operation. It’s estimated that the medical supplies will cost Bt8.3 million. Antibiotics are a necessity to help stop infections.

Thai nationals that are stuck in Nepal will be brought back on the C-130 military transport plane.

Reports indicate that there are currently 45 Thai nationals in the Thai embassy in Nepal waiting to be transported back to the country.

Yesterday, the Cabinet approved Bt100 million to help with the relief.

The Thai government has told all government agencies that are working on disaster relief to come up with contingency efforts.

Thailand sent 67-military experts to Nepal yesterday along with food, medical supplies, clean drinking water and survival kits. The team of experts will remain in the country at this time.
