No definitely south west of Mae Ping Hotel

Appears to be a massive fire. More images on CM108

Area near Changklan cemetery .I think they have it under control . Although heard few explosions and saw a few flare ups before. Seems to have calmed down a bit

From what I can translate it mentions near a cemetery in Changklan?

Those images on CM108 are being updated often so may revisit it to get current views.

From my estimate it was just beyond Panthip, so Chiang Mai cemetry, which is just past Butter is Better down the right fork road is about right.

It must be somewhere around Ragang/ Kamphaengdin area.

As everyone knows, Chiang Mai cemetry is the dead centre of Chiang Mai.

The fire is at the cemetry on Pracha Samphan road, in the buildings directly opposite the CMFC shop, at the end of the soi almost opposite the Shangrila hotel.

Serious fire. They have it under control now. I can see the area from my window. Went down and got a few pictures.

Here's the location. https://goo.gl/maps/bW4kc

As mentioned, it is near or at Changklan cemetary. Between Pracha Saphan road and Khampangdin road.

I'm moving this to the Chiang Mai News section but keeping a link in the main CM forum.

This looks bad.

Hope people were not injured or killed. A very dangerous job for the firemen, my thoughts are with this at this time.

Fire appears under control. Considering the size of it that was pretty quick by the fire fighters.

Report on CM108 of one woman found dead. Statements that she lived alone and liked lighting candles, drank regularly, and had fires at her home 3 times which neighbors put out in the past. This is a crude translation so don't rely upon it completely. The area had 30 cottages of basic construction, most likely meaning all wood and thatch style.

Also 10 firefighting vehicles/units from 7 districts were used.

I will see this when i return to Chiang Mai

Just a correction -

The fire was at the side of the council crematorium, not the Muslim cemetery which is further up the road.

About a two minute walk from where I used to live, very nice and helpful people who live down that soi.

Wow. Right near my home and i had no idea at all. I am very familiar with that area. Thank you to all for the info.
