Yes there are!...but not by the river, you have to go the 5 or 6 km into the town itself.

There are several there now....And some new eateries. My favourite G/H is the Minta.....it works out around 450 per night.

if you're going in ow vehicle there is insurance at the border and you can get SIMs cards sorted at the market.

Quite easy to travel through Ken Thao and not see much of the town, JoePi. Yeah, interesting how the whole community is laid out and strange that they don't take more advantage of being next the the Nam Hueang. Thanks for your intel, cumgranoslum.
